topping plants

hi i was wondering is there a limit to how many times you should top your plants

i have this one plant that has been topped 4 times already. it has about 20 ish tops now that i was considering topping each of them. so top them or leave them to bush out now

i only have a 2x2x5 grow space

You should be fine as long as you have proper light intensity and light exposure to each “top”.

I don’t think that guy really knows what he’s talking about. You’ll find out soon enough tho haha.

Actually he is pretty on point. As a general rule the more tops a plant has in a confined space the smaller the buds will each be. You aren't getting less bud, you are just getting more medium size colas instead of less large colas. Obviously like many things there are lots of variables to this, but its a fairly standard outcome.

Nothing wrong with it though, smaller colas are less likely to develop bud rot as long as you have air flow.

i guess the next question is what yields better more smaller tops for a few bigger ones

Really kinda like I said that comes down to many variables. With all variables the same I would say they would yield about the same. One would just have big colas and the other would have many smaller colas.

This happens with SCROG style grows some times, people will get TONS of small to medium-sized nugs. But in the end they will end up surprised at how much weight they got even though they didn't have big huge nugs.

I lean more towards larger single colas. I have been growing SOG for years now, and grow single cola plants with very short veg times. I don't think I yield more doing this persay, but I find it easier to trim single cola plants, and it just kinda fit my space and life when I started growing this way.

i think id prefer the single large colas over lots of small ones. easier to trim
i cant get my grow room over 23c with lights on is that going to make them grow slow. i was reading it should be abit hotter but i dont ant to run a heater for only a few degrees
