topping correctly?

It's time to top. This is the first time going in that I know why I need to top in my space and how it works. My question is...

When you top the plant is it better to keep the lowest branches as the four tops or should I leave them a bit higher up?

not sure what you mean. i think youre asking if the tops should be closer to the top? haha thats the point, its so that your tops receive the most light therefore growing the biggest.

I also am confused by your ?. But when I top, I normally only top the very top growing tip to allow the lower branches to catchup, if it is a bigger plant, I will top several of the uppermost branches allowing the lowest small growth to catchup. (usually including some LST to make it even & preety)

i find its best to pull the top two leaves apart when they do this ^ then remove that top nub so there is nothing in between the leaves anymore

Ok I think I got this. I want to take like 2 clones per plant and keep four tops. I assume I should use the lowest shoots for clones and let the growth higher up be the tops?

I topped mine just above the 3rd node to get 6 tops..I did that because I want to pollinate the lower buds. You could do the same thing, just use the lowest branches for cloning
