topping at 7th node

anyone know the reason for topping around the 7th node? and are you supposed to top above or below the 7th node?

i know about topping to increase the number of colas, as well as to just reduce height. but i was just wondering if there was any reason to top at the 7th node

i tend to top the at the 4th or 5th node.
