The most general and also the most accurate answer to that is the strain you like the most.
If someone wants something more detailed it might be helpful if they were to include at least a tiny bit of additional information like do they prefer a clear soaring motivational head high of a sativa or do they prefer a couch-lock mind and body numbing stone of an indica or do they prefer some combination of each and if so which of the two do they lean towards the most?
There is no singular top strain. No strain is what everyone likes the best or wants the most.

Good advice Brick 
I was going to say about the same thing but I would like to add that there are SO SO SO many different strains out there that is almost impossible to nail down "some of the highest end".
Personally I am a Serious Seeds grower. They concentrate their efforts and only produce 5 strains which are not only multiple cup winners but also some of the most stable strains out there.

What exacly is the afghan kush cross i got a big big big bbiigg i mean really big afghan kush hybrid started as a cutting now been vegging for nearly 7 month i plan to bud it after ive budded my g-bombs, lol the main stalk is over an inch wide at the bottom , am i to expect some nice results from the afghan??? It started internoding months ago

ABOUT 4 FOOT WEN IT WAS 10INCH I FIMMED IT AND WHEN THE 4 NEW SHOOTS REACHED 2 INCH I FIMMED THEM TOO SO NOW HAVE A GOOD 16 COLA PLANT + ALL THE OTHER 50+ BRANCHES ,
IT IS ALSO ABOUT 3.5 FOOT WIDE
I THINK A 400W hps ALL TO ITS SELF SHUD BE SWEET FOR BUDDING IT??????????? ITS VEGGING WITH A 200W CFL at the mo, i mite take a couple of clones off it before flower ,wot u think.
also the plant stinks allready so when i bud it shud i expect it to fuckin reek

it will take more then a 400 to flower a plant that big,trust me.and yes the smell will be powerful.

mostly i buy clones or seeds in socal but i do like mk-ultra(th seeds) la con(dna genetics) and black domina(sensi seeds) there are more but these are some off the top of my head peace.

really,, more than a 400, ive got like over 20 400w hps bulbs and a couple ov mh bulbs that my old man aquired for me, only got the 1 fitting tho to use on the afghan, my other is in with the g-bombs, ive never used hps or mh i using 2x300w cfl for bud and 1 200w cfl for veg, hps require ballasts n stuff dont they, i dont think i can just put them in my reflectors coz i thought the argon gas inside hps bulbs require an igniter or some thing, my 600w of cfl will prob be better than a 400 hps then?? i know my cfl bud set up is alot more luminens than a 400 hps.
is there any hps bulbs available that will work in a standard reflector without ballast or power pak,

interestingly enough Kali Mist is when of the lowest priced strains at my club.
Maybe its just the grower ;o..
I'm liking the white russian
I want something really potent sativa/indica it don't matter as long as it hits good I hate smoking something that takes me more then one bowl to really feel it.

most seeds available in seed online are not on the same level as some of the clones going around california there are some real good choices but most are old news. often the favorites people post online(ak-47 hazes white widow etc...) are sold very cheaply at most dispensaries compared to the high end newer strains.

yeah in seed form id go with cali connection ograskal seeds or elite genetics all produce formally clone only strains in seed. either using backcrossing or creating s-1's or fem crosses.
