top feed decisions, buckets or tubes?.....

Hey all, I hate to be a nuisance by asking what to me seems a pretty newbtastic question but I just can't make the itch go away so....here I go, sounding stupid:

I'm trying to grow 64 plants in a perpetual harvest, 16 every two weeks, hopefully netting a pound with those 16. I had originally planned to flower them in a top feed NFT system of sorts that I scrapped together but the fella at the hydro store advised me to use a top feed table/bucket system; buying four 4x4 tables, 16 buckets per table and stashing them under 4 1000w HPS adjust-a-wing lights. According to him with the buckets the roots have more room thus more oxygen, thus more yeild. As a note plants will veg to around 18-24 inches in a 3x3 or 4x4 ebb and flow setup under T5 flouros.

Is it sane to expect a pound out of these 16 plant harvests or should I bump that number up a bit, use my original tube setup or maybe an aeroponic tube setup? Keep in mind these plants will come out to around 3, 3.5 feet depending on the strain, and I'll be using strains chosen for heavy budding qualities and tolerance to new grower fuckups. My understanding is that's a bit taller than you're typical SOG setup usually goes.
