Top drip and hydroton

So I've been growing DWC for a while now and I'm looking to start a bigger grow with a top drip system. Thing is, I really like using hydroton and all the top drip systems I've seen use rockwool slabs.

Is there a good way to use hydroton with a top drip?

To clarify: I meanas far as equipment setup. It wouldn't really be good to use trays, right? That would take like 40(?) Liters of hydroton... so...

Well I built a set up 2 days ago with top feed drip! I took a piece of rock wool at about 3x3 inches. Dropped a bag seed in it. Buried it just below the (Lava/Hydrton)rock line and today this is what came up. I am really unsure of watering with this type of grow system. So I basically let it run continuously(The water stream shown in pic). About 1 1/2 inches away form plant, but where the roots would be watered. This is what I have 2 days later! :) I almost hate to get rid of this seedling, but I was only testing system! Hope this helps. This will be trial and error for me till I get it right. I think I am close.

I have used hydroton for awhile now and love it. A month ago I ordered my drip kit for 36 spots, 3 (12) spot manifolds 500 ft. spaghetti tubing 1/4 inch and 100ft 1/4 inch black soaker tubing and shit loads of 1/4 inch T's all for $75. I was sick of my 50 gallon reses and only having 7" of roots in a rosebucket. The manifolds have little filters easy to clean and prevent cloging. I run A.V. Terantula in flood drain veg in 8" buckets then move to flower where I only use chemicals that dont clog shit. Only run 1hr. 4 times a day and they fucking love it. Only bad thing is humidity rises a little, just let plant dry/breath for 1-2 hrs. before lights out!
