I live in the blazing hot South, I have had plants in containers that I believe were more susceptible to the heat than the light. I have noticed that my plants have more vigorous growth, and darker/lusher green growth when they are not exposed to direct light all day long. I think the chlorophyl may have been suffering a little from too much light, the plants showed improvement when I moved them from 7-7 direct light, to 8-4 direct light. These are indica/sativa mix, showing indica type leaves. Some sativas (Durban Poison comes to mind), would probably tolerate longer periods of direct light.

yeah, I had some plants on 12-12 direct and hey couldn't take it. the shade break is definitely a good thing, like during the hottest part of th eday.
we're lookin' into some shade cloths or somethin hung so they shadow the plants during this hot time. you can get differing woven sizes.
anyway, it's better to have too much sun to work with than too little.

it might be that your soil is overheating the next day, after you water your plants at night the soil is still wet and when sun hits it all day it has ALOT of heat my soil temps were 50+ degrees celcuis(i was freakin out), so what i did was replaced my soil, covered my soil so no sun could get in it and heat it up anymore and now all the leaves are taking full sun. put some nutes on it earlier and it is looking alot healthier and starting to grow alot faster now. this might be an issure for alot of growers that do not realize that the soil should not be getting the sun. this iinsures that you can get the maximum sunlight all day needed for amazing plant growth and not have to move them in the shade when it will not alow for growth, when it could be getting that extra few cm's per day.

You could wrap some insulation around your pot to keep your soil cooler???

Its still a hell of a lot better than last year... out of 30 days 11 were dry.. I had water running out the bottom of the pots....
this is much better this year..even with the cooler start......

yeah man i never knew untill i was transplanting my babies and my spot gets 10-11 hours direct sun per day and the soil was BOILING i AM LIKE WHAAAAAT so freakin then i thought of the "insulation for the soil and now the plant only gets sun and soil stays nice and good after a good day pf nice a** sun and growth. try it it is benificial
and YES it is very "ghetto" i used a creal box cut i hole to the size and put tinfoil on the bottom and then coverd the top once it was on with some soil and random stuff

i myself dont belive that too much sun is bad or it could burn your buds.it is good when your plant gets the most of the sun and darkness in night time.th more light, the more faster growth.Where i live thats the way it goes.

no, it isnt the sun. more sunlight the better, you need to make sure you soil is firmly packed in or the sides of the pot are covered because something is getting too hot and is likely your soil from alot of sunlight over the day and you wet soil will start to warm quicly when you don't even realize because who checks the soil unelss you trainsplant it. ALSO could be you neutrients, only use what is said to be used on the container. too much could cause your plants to mess up.

as for jjustin you should make your own thread in a different topic but i will tell jjustin that you should put them in pots. if you have big roots make sure you have a pot that is 5 inches wider around the roots. the hole should be deep enough to hold all the roots and 2 inches of the stem. after putting in yoour plant cover the roots and the bottom of trhe stem with soil and pack it down an 1inch from the stem.

i ahd the same problem leafs were drying out. put them in a shady area and plants are lookin alot more healty

you need to water it more often it sounds like your talking about your leaves curling upward to catch water. the more sun the better is wat ive always heard/experienced.
