I was having a very similar problem before Only fan leaves stems were purple , bottom leaves yellow with burnt tips , slowly turning white then dieing . My problem all came from the PH being to high and sulfur and magnesium deficiencies . Also are you using Tap or RO water ??? I do not know much about soil, but from pics it looks as if you have the same problem , Hope this Helps

I am using well water that is pumped through a water softener. I heard that softner isn't good to use but haven't seen much of a problem with my other plants. Also i am using a large swimming pool to help the impurities and excess heavy metals to settle at the bottom of the pool while i pull the water off the top layer. My water is PH 6.9. I thought this was poerfect for soil am i wrong? If my PH is too high then i suppose adding lime wouldn't help at all.

Also i heard that it is the low PH problems which cause magnesium to become unavailable to the plant? Which is why i added lime in the first place. I guess it could be a true deficiency but so far i am still in despearate need of a soil PH meter.

Take a close look at the plant, see how the stems are couloured. This show's but the leaves that are yellow are old foliage.don't do nothing that you have'nt allready been doing. That looks like a very nice grown plant.just pull of the leave's that are yellow and put her to flower she his showing you she's ready.so easy to give you advice that is realy not needed great looking cannabis plant dude.

Thanks for the compliment, but i do have others that are doing way way way better. This is definitely a problem to me, I just pulled another 20-30 dead leaves off and they don't come off naturally like the old leaves on my other plants. They dont simply tare off these dead white leaves are strong and hold firm. Some actually rip little strings down the side of the stem and i know thats not good. This is how I know it is a problem.

"the leaves that are yellow are old foliage"

Well i just noticed some smaller leaves dying today that are much younger. The leaves attached to a branch off of another branch. These are the leaves that will directly feed energy into the individual bud when it develops. These leaves can not be that old. Also this plant is much to big for me to force bud, it just needs to wait for mother nature.

I have tried raising the PH and had no luck I have tried the epsom salt and it seemed to make it worse. Not this plant but the one that is in budding already actually looks like it is rejecting the little bit of epsom salt i gave it. I noticed an oily substance on the one of the leaves near the burnt area in my picture. I checked the next day and the spots that were oily were all dead and a crystaline subtance was left on the surface of the leaves. It is actually sweating the salt out right through the leaves! I take it this is a sign not to add anymore epsom salt.

" My problem all came from the PH being to high and sulfur and magnesium deficiencies "

Well i have tried raising it and no help there, maybe if i lower the PH i might see some positive results. I am about 40 miles from the nearest Hydro store and i am pretty low on cash, is there something in my kitchen i could use to lower my PH? My first thought would be lemon juice, but what rate do i apply it?

OK so everyone who is still interested my soil test results are in!

Nitrogen = low
Phosphorous = adequate
Potassium = super high almost off the charts.
PH = 7.5

So i think a combination of high PH and too much Potassium is my problem. I think i added too much kelp meal to start and then was feeding it liquified kelp with every dose of fish emulsion. Like i said earlier I read that too much Potassium can interfere with Magnesium availability which would explain the yellowing with the green veins. I have been afraid to add the lemon juice until i got some good results. I am thinking a good flush with a small amount of lemon juice in the last few gallons should help out some. Then i need to give it some Nitrogen and Phosphorous to replenish what will be leached out. Hopefully this will bring my K levels down. And then i will take another soil PH test tomorrow.

I am having a very similar problem, but can't test my PH! Did the lemon juice help bring it down? What are your levels at now?

These plants are out doors, just in a green house. I used the rapitest color coded reagent test kit. you mix some soil in water 1:5 parts let it settle then add it to the small test chamber mix with powder inside of a capsule and then use a color comparison chart to test.

I am still having problems with the larger one. I am using about 1.25 table spoons of lemon juice per 5 gallons of water. I think it is not enough. I need a water test kit.

Right now not only the leaf stems are dark purple but it is developing dark purple spots and complete discoloration on the main stems. This scares me. I have heard that when the water table drops in the summer sometimes it can adjust the PH balance. I think my water is super high in PH and i need to check it soon.

Just got a hydro water PH test kit. My water tested at 8.0! I can't believe it! I am nowusing PH down and flushing with 6.5 PH water to correct my problem. The lemon juice was just no where in comparison as strong or potent as the PH down from General Hydroponics.

I was told by someone more experienced that If you are on a well and when the summer time comes the water table can get low and it can sometimes hit a layer of limestone which can cause a PH adjustment.
