Too Much Electricity? Police Attention!

Hi, I was wondering if a couple hundred dollars increase in my monthy electric bill will cause attention from law enforcment? In a apartment im guessing the average is 50-100$ a month about 400-500KWH. Let's say I was to do 4 600w lights 12 hours a day. Which 2000w 12 hours a day, thats 24KWH per day x 30 = 720KWH. Which would increase my electric bill about 100$ more a month. So my question is do you think 720KWH(lights) + 500KWH(everyday use) = 1220 KWH a month. Thats about 200$ a month just in electricity in a 3 bedroom apartment. Do you think that will cause attention from law enforcment?

There will be no smell, and no view from the outside, and i havent told anyone. Im just wondering in electricity alone will it be suspecious?

Acutally, Yes I acutally been looking for a long time, and found little to help me anwser my question. And I wanted to ask more specificaly about MY situation. So, If you dont plan to help out then why bother even post?

well if you do a larg draw in a short amount of time then yes that could attract people

Pay your bill. Every month. On time. Do you think the power company is out to bust their best customers? The prices that power companies charge are set by the government. Because the business of energy is a natural monopoly (It is so hard and expensive for another company to install power lines and dig tunnels to offer competitive service, that no one will bother) the government regulates the price that your privately owned power company can charge. Therefore, it is very difficult for them to make a bigger profit. And they want a bigger profit. If some dude is drawing 3 times as much power as the last dude did in the same place, and paying his bill on time, he is not a criminal; he is a goood customer. Also, they are able to charge penalties (higher rates) if you go over your alloted usage. They love that shit. That is where they start to make the big dollars.

Law enforcement agencies have much better things to do than go over power bills month by month to see if people are trying to grow. They may subpoena the power company if they have been watching you for a while; but you are probably already fucked at that point, anyway. Besides, 2400 watts is nothing. If you have an electric hot water heater, I can almost guarantee you that it takes more power than that. Pay your bill, keep your mouth shut, and don't even think about stealing power.

Oh, and for the record, I am entertaining the idea of going from 400 to 2400 watts pretty soon. The power company is the last thing on my mind. It should be near the last on yours, too. I bet some of the tech guys on this site run 5000 watts of computers 24/7 in their houses. Shit gets exaggerated among growers, but [cannabis growing] power usage is not as crazy at it seems.

I agree with what sleepytown says. from what I have heard, cops only look into your power bill if you're already on their radar. they don't go checking power bills for random people to see if they grow or not.

just remember they have suround sound systems that are 5000watt+.....like stated before pay your bill ontime every month an you should be ok...peace az

Honestly when i hooked up my 2 600s and my 250. plus can fans, timers, pumps, oscillators, etc. my bill went down 180 dollars! just be aware of your usage around the house. like sleepy said pay your bill on time, dont be a fuck ass and try to steal the power and you will be so straight. the power companies are in it for money, not to bust pot growers lol. If your really worried about it unplug your hot water heater and live with cold showers. those things use 3000w+ just keeping hot water on standby. unplug that shit and u can hook up 3 1000s! turn off RIU at night, switch to cfl lights in your house. hand wash dishes. less laundry. all that shit. we should be doing it anyway the way we waste electricity in this country.

Your situation is no different. It takes lots concrete evidence for police to get a search warrant, and a electricity bill just doesn't hold it's weight in court.

You know they make 1000w computer power supplies? There was a point in my life that I had literally 8pcs running in my house 24/7, all of them with at least a 400w power supply. Hell, my bathrooms had those vanity bulb lights, 12 40w lights in each of the three bathrooms. I know a 1000w is a lot of power, and sounds like a lot of power. But it might not stick out as much as people might think. You are probably using that much between your TV, xbox 360, and computer.

I only used the xbox because I thought it drew more power, but I don't know anything about that sort of thing. I have an xbox, that I use for XBMC and nothing else, and a DS that I play. I do have a sweet Sega Saturn though, I wonder if those are rare enough to fetch good money yet.

I know many pro growers and ther first rule is never go over 4 x 1000 waters hp and u will never have any problems ,that is if u pay ur bills
