quick question. my room is way too hot. i have a 4 inch inline fan for air in and a 6 inch inline fan for air out. my question is can i flip them? meaning can i put the 6 inch fan for air in and the 4 inch for air out? has anyone done this before? any problems? fire hazard? any suggestions are greatly appreciated. its a 600w by the way. hope to hear from you.

Your better off with the 6 inch pulling air out, if you could add another 4 inch fan blowing in that may help. What does your grow area look like, how big is it, what is the current temp and what is your goal for the temp?

Get a cool tube. That is the best advice I can give. I have a 400w mh/hps in a 2x4 tent. With only one 6-inch exhaust fan my little 2x4 tent stays at 82 with the doors closed. The cool-tube will isolate the hot air from the bulb and the fan, with inline ducting, can remove the hot air very effectively if exhausted to a separate space or room(mine goes directly to the attic)

What I would do since you do not know the CFM's of the fan, since it can be a 12" at 50cfm or 4" at 400 CFM that all makes a huge huge difference.

Go to frozencpu.com and look up some of there 110volt fans, I just picked one up that is roughly 5inchs in diameter and pulls 230cfm which if you look around is a HUGEEE amount of air for a fan that size, use the 6inch for an inlet and the frozencpu fan for an outlet and pick up an adjustable fan controller because I have a 3X3X4 room with a 400wattHID light without a cool tube vent and the box gets TOO COLD and I need to lower the fans rpm I have it running at about 60%.

Just something to think about...

No it is not. Proper fans do not come from computer hardware stores. A proper fan will be made by someone like can-fan.

Are you even running ducting? You run ducting threw one side o the light and have the 6" pulling out threw the light and exiting the room, then have the 4" intake about knee high some where in there with a isolating fan on the other side of intake just to fuck with air flow n mix it up but leave one side of light open so it acts as an exhaust

You should use the 4" vent fan to ventilate the room heat and air out. You should have the 6" vent fan hooked up to air cool the 600w light. Get a small booster fan or squirrel cage blower for an intake fan, you don't need too much. If your reflector is not air coolable, you will need one, there's no way around it with heat problems. Your plants will be happy, your temps will make you sane and your bulb will last longer too.

Like dadio161 said, no curves. One 90 degree curve will cut air flow by 50%. If you have to put a curve in there, but a duct booster fan in, that is what the are made for, increasing air flow in corners.

Mount a small 4" filter on the 4" exhaust and hook up the 6" either with a fresh air intake from outside and a hot air exhaust for no smell. If a fresh air intake is out of the question you will need a second carbon filter on the open end of the AC reflector to combat odor from there. Buy a real filter, dont make it. Manufactured filters are compacted so much tighter than a home-aid filter, they last longer and are more effective. If you want to save money on a filter, buy filter made by a distributor, not a Can Filter. Eco Plus from Sunlight Supply or Active Air from Hydrofarm work and are literally half the price of a Can Filter.

If you don't have vent fans, you can save money buy going with a distributors brand again, like Active Air, Eco Plus or Sunleaves. You can again save half off a can fan and get a great quality fan. If your really looking for the best fan, don't get a Can Fan, get a Vortex!
