Too Hot for the tops???

Hello people,
I have a grow box I built using plywood, dimensions are 3ft 6in W x 5ft 6in T x 4ft D. I've been using a 600w hps for a week now, I was using 6 4ft long t5 Sunblaster fluorescents from seedlings up until a week ago. There were 12 plants total but now there are nine, (2 were male and 1 died from a stupid accident on my behalf). They are about 20 inches tall and the hps light is hung about 2ft 6in above them.

I'm going to build a cool tube this weekend because the temperature is averaging between 81F and 85F. Now I've been misting them frequently to help keep the temps down. The edges of the top leaves are slightly curling upward and from what I've seen that indicates that it is too hot or the light is burning them.

I've read somewhere that it is not such a good idea to mist them or spray them while the hid lights are on because the water could act as a magnifier and could induce burning. Is that true??? If so, should I only spray them in the dark??? Comments or suggestions are always appreciated, thanks.8)

I grow in a similar size cabinet. In the summer, my temps hit over 100 degrees. I never mist my plants. I've taken as much as 14 ounces of finished, cured buds out of that cabinet when everything goes well. :) Just be sure that you have plenty of ventilation going on. This plant we grow, grows wild all over the world in all temps.

Good luck ...

Sounds like that cab is a given for heat. I hope the ballast is external to the cab and it has an intake and exhaust fan.

85% Aint That Bad For Ur Plants It Depends On The Strain But I Grown A Few

The ballast is remotely located on the outside, on top of the cab and yes I have a couple of intake fans and a couple of exhaust fans. As for the strain, most of them are AK47 with two blueberry I believe. I'm trying to build a cool tube for the light so that I have a little bit better control over the temps during the flowering stage. :blsmoke:
