Too cold to germinate?

Hey guys!

it’s day 8 today after direct sowing in medium and still nothing.
Been giving them 1 - 2 bottle caps of water per day (depending on how dry the soil is)
It’s Pineapple Express from g13
Air temps are between 20c - 26c (it did fall to about 18c on a night or 2.)

I dug around the earth in the pots to see what was going on and 2 out of the 5 seeds have a super tiny taproot, the others nothing yet.....
Got these seeds from Seedsman

What’s the longest u guys had to wait??

I wouldn't water but rather spray with a pressure sprayer to keep surface moist but not wet. I've always had great results with the paper towel method and planting by the soil surface, leaving the sprouted root under the soil and the seed hull/cotyledon above soil.

Last year I grew a freebie seed I got from Seedsman. I just planted it outside in a pot. 45°F-50°F temps at night. It grew. Got a few zips. Don't blame seedsman. Especially if it's in seeds from breeder packs because you don't know how old they were when Seedsman got them.

One of the only breeders that I know of that puts dates on their packages is ACE. I don't understand why it's not an industry standard.

It's probably 50%-50% grower error vs bad seeds.

Sowing in medium works fine but i never do it. I have almost 100% germ rate by putting seeds right into wet paper towel and that into plastic sandwich bag. Sandwich baggie in small, dark container and place on cable box. Put seed taproot down in soil so top of seed is just visible or just below surface. My reason for doing this is i know for sure theyve sprouted so i dont waste time. This has worked for me extremely well.

Have to say I've only had good experiences with Seedsman. Seeds arrived in the breeder packaging. 100% germination with everything from them so far.

im suprised too, as ive too had mothing but good results with them too, but the last oder had the rong seeds in it, ment to be autos and there growing branches where the floweing bud sites should be. forgive there apearance, but just found out that the soil im useing only lasts 4 weeks without adittional feedings

Useful does that too. Month and year. Authentic Genetics will list what year they were from. Its very uncommon which is pretty weird. If anything I'd say its standard not to because then you can sell old seed stock w/o people knowing. It benefits all parties except the buyer. I'm not saying seed banks do this intentionally tho.

Imo you already know it sprouted when you pop them in paper towels , what time are you saving leaving the seed on surface my guess any time you think your gaining is spent waiting on hulls to fall off

That’s how I’ll do it from now on... logical.

Plants that have detach the hull thru soil tend to be hardier right out of the gate
