today is the day

why not use liquid honey

It doesn't work as well. He using a cloner. I suggested soaking in aloe water which is far more beneficial.

I did the aloe vs honey in rapid rooters last year. Not one clone rooted from honey. It was organic honey straight from a bee farm.

Interesting, Honey is a natural antiseptic and a potent hygroscopic(water absorbing) material with medical uses going back many thousands of years. These two factors mainly the antibiotic properties though are the reason honey works as a rooting agent. The Egyptians were quite fond of honey and all its variable uses. Honey has long been revered as a sacred commodity for its curative properties. The sumarians, the babylonians, the Romans, and pretty much the rest of the world through ancient times believed the honey bee to be divine. Here is a good recipe I found for a honey rooting liquid for aero/bubble cloners-To make the honey a rooting hormone agent you will need to take a few very simple steps: 1) boil 2 cups of water 2)add 1 TBS(tablespoon) of honey 3) Let mixture cool then put in an airtight container 4) Store out of light, either sunlight or artificial 5) Dip cutting in solution then pot up, no real need to put baggie/plastic over cuttings. I have use this solution and have had much better results in rooting cuttings than with rooting hormones purchased. Please note: The shelf life of this solution is approximately 2 weeks.

Less work with aloe. Cut leaf. Let sit to drain sap. Dip cutting in leaf. Then place cutting in medium. Cover with a dome or bag for a few days to a week and that's it.

With cloner method it is to heal and salicylic acids. You don't want a gel of any kind on the end of the cutting in a cloner.

Also i might note that The following figures give the mineral constituents of thirty-four 100 gram samples of average honeys in milligrams. (Elser and Sundberg):

Phosphoric acid 56.93
Iron 1.80
Manganese .48
Chlorine 16.37
Calcium 15.86
Silicates 8.91
Magnesium 5.48
Potassium 149.40
Sodium 23.37

TBH if i still had the clientele i wouldnt be growing just selling clone varieties having one green house full of strains :)

Dipping it is to use rapid rooters or rock wool.

Soaking is aloe diluted in water. So there is no gel on the end when it goes into the cloner. The cut heals. Prior to healing it up takes what it can fron the aloe.

I was referring various methods. Not just in a cloner. Reread

best way to prepare cuttings is not just angle cutting its going up the stalk of cutting and giving them a cut as well like a fish hook angle cut then 2 fish hook like cuts above
look at a hook exactly like that....
not opposite where if you were to put it into something it would tear stalk so when you press it into soil or rockwool it would almost go back to original place if that makes sense lol give it a try you be surprised its better then scrapeing sides etc

And so day 7 comes and it seems the white nubs are starting to appear. The blackness I was worried about never did get worse. I think it may have been some alkalinity from the razor I used....

Anyway, thanks for all the advice guys... so far so good....
