Tobacco and weed in joints

Hey there fellow growers.

My question to you is: What are the (dis)advantages of rolling joints with tobacco and weed and what are the (dis)advantages of rolling with just weed?

I don't smoke tobacco at all and rarely smoke joints because I prefer bongs and vaporizers. But whenever I do get to roll one, I notice that the tobacco just makes me dizzy and nauseous. Can this effect be countered in any way?

Honestly the only disadvantage I know with using tobacco with weed is it stains your teeth. I'm sure there are plenty of advantages and disadvantages to it, but I am unaware of them off hand. I purely don't use tobacco because my teeth already get stained by drinking coffee every morning, and when I was adding tobacco to my weed at night it was just making the stains worse. Whiter teeth over a good high sounds crazy lol, but it would greatly effect my job if I had stained teeth.

The dizzyness is from the lack of smoking tobacco. Most people that are new to smoking ciggerattes will get this dizzy light headed feeling when they first smoke. Why dont you just put pure weed into your joints instead of mixing? Weed already as 4 times as much tar as ciggerattes do, why would you add even more.

That dizzy and nauseous effect is the nicotine when you're not used to it. You could counter it by building up tolerance to nicotine but you'll get addicted to it too - not worth it. Smoke the weed pure if you can.

bullshit i say this statement is just fueled by goverment propaganda that is shitty weed that dirty ass swag from mexico that they are testing and using to compare those stats too....oh and if you really want to smoke tobacco with weed i would add filter to help filter the harshness of the tobacco....i usually just put some weed in my cigarettes to make it have that special dank taste rather than vice versa since i smoke cigarettes anyways...i like to get those hollow cigarette tubes and then you can blend some good tobacco with your herb and use a little machine that packs it, i mean why not i have enough herb, so i can get my nicotine fix and just be able to mask the smell a little so i can enjoy maryjane

Well, seeing that i don't smoke tobacco and don't even like it, I'm gonna go green from now on on my joints.

Thanks to you all for the contribution.

PS: the thread is still open, since I like to hear from am many people as possible about this subject.

I did hear that weed has 4 times more tar than tobacco. Yet a study from Maryland Collage concluded that there are absolutely no signs of lung damage and that pot smokers lungs are just as healthy as non-smokers lungs.

Question: would using a filter typically used for cigarettes (made of cotton I believe) reduce the potency of the joint? Wouldn't it also stop cannabinoids?

I'd say yes, it would block some if not most of the thc etc, isnt that what filters in smokes are for??? to catch the excess tar and the rest of the crap they stick in tobaccoo..
I swear next yr i'm gonna start croppig tobacco plants too... surely plain old dried tobacco cant be as bad as using 'bought' tobacco.

I was thinking of growing tobacco, because the crap out there with all the additives is just making me sick. The only additive free brand is American Spirit Tobacco, and I can't find it where I live. So yeah. Bad part is, it takes about a year to grow and another year to dry... so I'll just be rollin my joints with green...

Don't believe everything you hear, find out yourself from scholarly sources.

It doesn't sound like weed is strong enough for you. You should just go straight to main lining heroin, speed and/or methamphetamine. Welcome to the underworld, thank you for choosing Marijuana as your gateway drug.

LOL, this is a funny thread.

THseaman, I know exactly what you mean. I've read all the studies (Virginia 1974, Milan 2000, Maryland 2004) that clearly suggest that weed is one of the healthiest things on this earth. But the whole 4 times more tar than tobacco thing is true. Because pot is such a highly resinous plant, the tar production during combustion is higher then with tobacco.

But don't worry. In the Maryland Collage study they found out that even though it has 4x more tar, the lungs of even heavy joint smokers are total non-smokers are completely the same, because cannabinoids stimulate the break-down and elimination of tar while inhibiting cancerous cell build-up.

I do however appreciate you trying to get people to investigate for themselves issues like this one, since journalism seems to be more of a joke these days than an actual meaningful job. +rep for you!

PS: I am a med student and am fully aware of the fact that weed is not harmful in any way and will never have the long term effects that alcohol or tobacco consumption has.
