What? No, SOG takes the least amount of space of any method.

height space yeah but not neccessarily width, depends how much bud u want,OBVIOUSLY if u sog 4 plants theyr guna need less space than 4 normal plants,if u want 2pound of bud from sog then u need alot more space than u wud if u wanted to get 2pound doin it the normal way,sog n scrog is for peeps with limited height space.

I'd like to see half that yield in the same space without SOG.

When I decide to top I wait until the plant is large enough to make a nice clone out of the top, no sense in wasting it.

Hedge if you have 10 plants, top one of each strain and compare it's the only way to know for sure if you like the outcome. Plus you can make clones out of those tops.

Topping is all bullshit. 1 cola splits into 2. Once ya top the plant grows no more branches. So if ya top at 5 nodes ya get what 10 colas/branches. I dont top mine and i end up with 15 or 25 branches with a huge bud on the end. If ya top when young ya get 2 main stocks kicking out the branches.

LST ALL THE WAY. Even though you got that lovely height in your grow room you dont want to be using it all for plant growth. If you keep them shorter and real bushy you'll get a better harvest then you would jjust letting them grow big.

With the lst(i prefer pinching-pm me if ur unfamiliar with this technique) instead of cutting the plant and breaking up that main cola you can get the same effects and keep it all intact.

Your light also loses intensity at about 1.5ft-2ft so that right there limits you on your height(doesnt mean light is shit after 2ft...) and if their properly lst'd you'll get a very nice yield.

I veg for 6weeks in 5gal,2 more weeks in 10gal and flower in the 10's, 4-6oz's/plant no problem. 4x4 box with 6 plants 600whps.

I topped my thai haze x skunk - but mainly because I needed to curb the vertical growth. Being sativa dominant - the thing was going to be a tree where I didn't have the room to have a tree!

I have to say I'm extremely impressed by what is gearing up to be an awesome harvest off this plant. I really dont have anything to compare it to at the moment because the ones I didn't top are not the same strain. (White widow) But i have two huge cola/stalks jumping way up... plus the two branches that are one node down put on the afterburners and are nearly as tall. I have buds everywhere on this plant, and I can't wait to see what the harvest will be like.

Next time around I should be able to flower early enough that I'll be able to leave one untopped so I can compare the harvest.

topping is awesome if done right.

the guy who said that topping stops all new growth has no idea/experience with topping obviously.

I like to top small (say 3 nodes) and then again on the topped pair when they branch (giving 4 main branches) and i end up with about 30-40 different branches all about the same height.

I use sativa dominant strains and it turns them from a christmas tree into a big fat bush, which is what i want in my 6 foot ceiling.

I have a max of 4 plants under a 600w HPS, even then its tough to fit them all in.

Its true that topping gives different results to different strains, play with yours and find out how it works as suggested

ps the guy suggesting LST seems to have LST mixed up with FIM. FIM is pinching, LST is tying down with string/rope/fishing line.
