hi I am growing indoors in soil. The plants have started to flower however I wish to gain more height and foiliage whilst they r budding is this possible? I am running the lights on at 14 hours and 10 hours off. I have also been giving the plant a few days of complete light as well as darkness on average once a week.
Thanks for any advice available one and all :peace:

If their flowering they should be on a 12/12 light cycle, they will keep growing, plants will almost double their size in the flowering cycle, I wouldnt be giving them any other lighting other than 12/12, IMO:peace:

just so you know.... your probably gunna end up with hermies if your giving the plant 24 hours of light and then 24 hours of darkness and switching the light schedule all over the place........

leave the lights on 12/12, for the entire flowering process..... it's been mentioned, but the plants double and sometimes triple in height when flowering......

i can only agree with the above advice dude. Dont mess around with ur light cycle, stick to the regime reap the rewards.

unecessary stress being triggered with those plants and that light schedule. is there any reason that you have this light schedule?

can anyone tell me what diff is between MH light and HPS I am using MH lighting at moment is there much need to change to HPS lighting and if so does that mean I have to get new Ballasts or do HPS work on MH Ballasts as well?
Thank you for any advice this is a very helpful site :peace:

MH is for mainly vegging cause it has more of the blu spectrum to grow, HPS displays a red spectrum which is used to flower, No your MH ballast will not work with a HPS light, they do have conversion ballasts that light both MH/HPS bulbs:peace:

hmmm well Im using mh setup from start to finish. is that bad? (sorry to randomly cut in here) my ballast does not support both and Im not at this point about to go make another investment in an hps setup now. hah. fuck!

I'm no expert, but as I understand it, you can use MH for flower as well as veg. It is not the optimal situation, but it will work. The same goes for HPS, it can be used for veg and flower.

Having both spectrums of light is best, but you can get away with one or the other.

Best of luck!

You'll be fine. The bud growth won't be as rampant as with an HPS, but you won't notice the difference until you eventually get the HPS anyway.

For my latest grow, I've been using both a MH and HPS concurrently and getting fantastic results. However, it's interesting to see how the plants under the MH excel over the HPS during vegging and vice-versa during the flowering. Pretty easy to recognize the difference.

i used to veg under a mixed 600w hps/mh and then switch too a full 600w hps for flowering. I NOW veg under a 200w low energy bulb. Check out my pics is all i can say. Yes the vegging is a lil quicker to get plants to size under mixed mh/hps but at WAY WAY WAY more electricity cost. Another week longer under cfl bulb gets similar vegging result, then with the all important flowering stage I still stick to 600w hps. I grow 4 at a time all in different stages of flowering so i have an almost perpetual grow. Harvesting every 3/5 weeks.
