We can only hope brother. And he is right about Shelby County being on the Drug Trafficking Corridor. Memphis has gotten pretty bad in the last few years.

I've been saying since the beginning of O'Bama's presidency that he will never address the issue of legalization/decriminalization. He has a legacy as being the first black president to consider. Don't blame him, though. It has to do with racism and the stigma attached to marijuana and the reason it was banned in the first place. Maybe, when he wins his second term and on the last year of his presidency he might do it, but I doubt it. He's stuck between a rock and a hard place. The GOP sharks would smell blood and politically tear him limb from limb. It would be a feeding frenzy.

In my heart of hearts I would love to see him do the right thing and stop this madness. I just know that it will never happen.

he should run for Presidency IMO. He'd have my vote!

I may be making Arkansas my perm. home. I still have my house in Belmar, N.J. - Which, I need to sell if I'm going stay down here. That house in Belmar is paid for.. I own it.

As far as this house, here in Arkansas.. its also paid off and in my name. But, with the recent major historical flooding and the hurricane that swept through NJ/NY/Rhode Island.. I have no idea when I'll be able to go back, and not even sure that I want to for that matter. The house that I was left with, here in Arkansas.. was my godmothers house. This things way more than what I need though.. 3,450 SQ. Ft. home.. with just me living in it. 5 bedrooms.. 4 car garage.. I mean shit, it doesn't get much better than this.

Plus, whatever I can get for my old house in NJ... I'll be pocketing all that money, except for what I have to use for taxes, fees, etc..

I'm hoping that if Tenn. legalizes cannabis... I'm hoping that Arkansas will follow suit and do the same thing.

I don't know, I'm stuck in a bind. I don't feel like having to pay property taxes on two properties each month so I think the best thing to do, is just sell my old house in NJ.. keep whatever money I have left after paying taxes and fees... and just live down here. It's so much more peaceful down here than up there in the east coast.

I agree totally. Cohen is a rarity among today's politicians. He has courage and a true desire to serve the people ...not special interests
As far as Tn or AR legalizing...it will not be anytime soon. Tn can't even get a bill to study it through a committee, much less on the floor. The current gov is adamantly opposed.

He is co sponsoring the decriminalization bill in the US House also. Here is an excerpt from an article by The Nashville Scene:

"The fact that progressive Democratic congressmen like Cohen and Barney Frank (Mass.) are teaming up with Republican Ron Paul of Texas seems to confirm the old adage that politics makes strange bedfellows, but it's not all that surprising, given Paul's Libertarian roots. Even less surprising is that Cohen would sign on to the bill. After all, Cohen was at the center of an infamous 1997 pot-smoking incident reported in the Scene:
Cohen is, in fact, so comfortable among journalists that he has been known to step out on the porch and smoke a joint with a group of them at a private party. The easy inference is either that he doesn’t care what the press knows about his habits or that, because they’re doing it too, he figures they’ll never write about it. “It’s a generational thing,” Cohen says of the pot smoking. “I don’t do it very often.”"

My kind of guy!

When is he up for reelection I want to send him a couple of bucks for his campaign.
Cohen is my Congressman. I'm proud of the stance he's taken on marijuana, but his opponents use it against him every two years.

He's got an opponent for next year that is just about guaranteed to use this as something to attack him with, so stop in at www.CohenForCongress.com and see if you can help him out with a contribution.
