Tips for raising a Mother Plant?

Same Question. I have some classic Panama Red seeds coming. Feminized, but I am going to keep at least 1 mother plant and pollinate the cuttings with some GG#4. I think it will breed some fire if I can keep mom going for a while

I dont plan on doing anything different, I'm raising 4 mamas right now under 600w metal halide, same veg nutes I've always given my plants.

Really it's no different from a crop clone. It's just another plant in veg. state, but you know it's a female already and it's for clone's only. Same nutes and light as any one week old clone and go from there. Baby her and maybe do some training for more shoots. Good luck

Personally, I prefer bonsai moms. Less space, medium, water, and hassle (after you have them trained, that is). Keep them in as small a container as possible for as long as possible before transplanting to the next size up. I LOVE this idea.
I love to prune/scrog so this is right up my alley. Have the perfect clone in mind for it. Already a split branch so perfect for this.

ya I have my mother plants in 3 gal fabric pots, don't plan on putting them in any bigger containers. Never mind a 17gal container, that seems like overkill dude.

I have either 3 or 7 gal fabric pots I haven't used yet.
3 a good size?
Was considering maybe a 1 gallon...to small?

1 gal drys to fast in our environment (desert), we use 3 gal fabric, light on the ferts, light on the lights we are not trying to grow them fast, just keep em. restart as needed (6 mo to 1 yr ish) IPM for sure as plants you don't pay as much attention to can allow bugs to grow unnoticed.

3 gals seems good to me. I honestly find keeping mother plants actually conserves space rather than taking clones of clones of clones ect. I now just take cuts from my moms put them in my 25 site aero cloner than once rooted go right into dirt. I have found the keeping mom plants helps me better manage grow times, and is keeping my grow better organized. It's also a lot cleaner not constantly taking up space with bulky clone domes, before keeping mother plants I felt like I was taking cuts all the time- straight in to promix in the solo cups repeat... Never again.

That's exactly what I thought.
Did the math to do the whole clone of a clone etc. cycle, and for what I want would be 12 plants total through cut clone to harvest @ any given time.
To many for my taste.
Mother definitely looks the way to go.
Plus gives me more room to run mothers of different strains.
With the room I have now I think I could get away with 4-6 Mom's with enough room to clone/veg if flower room is taken.
That sounds pretty damn fine to me

Ya I was explaining to my buddy who just clones clones clones, that keeping mothers actually saved space and time when done right. I'm now harvesting my flowering room once a month. So I harvest half of the flower room say sept 1st. Then 2nd half oct.1 Already have the cuts taken from mother in small pots and they'll be transplanted to the 5gal fabric pots in next few weeks, then boom sept 1st into the bloom they go and so on and so forth...

After taking cuts over several months from my first mutha....I realized it was perfect timing to toss the witch outside to flower.
She was a good mutha. Next mutha yet to be selected.
