Sounds like fungus gnats. Sometimes in commercial soil you will get larvae. Just put out a sticky fly trap and catch some so you can post a photo. You know the type, the ones that are just a little tube like an m-80 firecracker and you pull the end and it stretches out to be a sticky strip of fly paper.

you have fungus knats most likely if you are growing in soil. they feed off your soil mix...get some sand and completely cover a decently thick layer with the sand over your soil and they cannot get in to feed and if your trap some under the sand they cant get out. Also getting some very hot ass pepper plant in your bed would be righteous enough to keep all insects out. organic.

thx for everyones input. im gonna try a sticky trap like silusbotwin suggested i think and go from there. they dnt seem to be hurting the plants or leaving any larvae or anything. my main concern is them getting into my tent where i have plants in week 7 of flower. thx again

Update!
The local hydro shop had something called Organocide. It was certified organic by OMRI. The active ingredient is Sesame Oil and there's edible fish oil which gives the girls a nice foliar feeding while taking care of those bugs. In my case 2 low concentration sprayings a week apart worked well. Good luck

Seems the overall consensus anyway, is that they won't harm your plant. Unlike the little white fuckheads all over my tomatoes at the moment, and the little thrips that show-up on ALL plants every now and then.
Meh, mine are outdoors. Other bugs etc keep bug-numbers down pretty well I find.

What about that White Oil?
I found a bottle of spray with WHite Oil as the active, and I havne't bothered grabbing Neem oil.. I know White Oil's petroleum based, but so what, I say

They stick to your buds man, the damage they do to your roots can't be seen till its too late basically, don't waste any time and don't let up, the adults are an easy kill and not harmless(they do stick to your buds) but the larvae are a bitch, if in soil a layer of diatomaceous earth is much more affective than sand, they may get thru sand but they certainly won't get thru diatomaceous earth because it has razor sharp microscopic edges and cuts the little bastards to death .

Well, it's only in veg (half way through summer) and yeah, I don't mind tossing the oily leaves in the bin - when the time comes to trim em up
I don't believe the plant would actually ABSORB any of the oil, and those ugly little white-fly spots are starting to haw 'bug' me
..I've tried Pyrethrum on my other garden plan ts, and it always fucks the whole plant up. It's like - they act like they've been sprayed with weed killer.
I've also tried that aerosol shit: Hortico something.. for all vege/fruit. I LIKE that one, cos it doesn't fuck the plants looks up, but it's far from natural.
So wouldn't white oil (Which's traditional for mites at least, maybe white flies too), be the lesser of the ev.. Wait.. nevermind. Fuck it.
I'll use the Hortico chemical-waste-based stuff - I hardly need any of it on the plant, and it doens't leave any oily shite on the leaves.
