Timer for NFT ??

Hey!

Im confused about the NFT system -

in some places i read that the water runs constantly so there
is no reason to use a pump and in some places i see they
put a timer for the system -

can someone please explain?

Must be aeroponis, flood/drain requires the table to be filled and held for x amount of time..

but yes for aeroponics, 1 min on and 4 off is the standard.

In a true nft system there would be a continuous flow of nutes from one end to the other. But it can be used with a timer to prevent high res temps. In the aero/nft type systems, like rails, there are multiple sprayers that spray the root chamber and a good beginning time should be 1 on 4 off, I use 80sec on 8min off.
