Well i got a sweet deal! This dude has a house & barn for me to tear down and says i can keep all the wood. It should be enough wood to build a huge shed out back im thinking 20'x30' shed with 12' walls on the bottom and 6' walls on the second story. looking to grow about 20-30 plants all together and was wondering how many mh setups i would need for veg and how many hps setups i would need for flower

have you ever grown before?

and just cause you have all the lumber free doesn't mean the insulation is free. there won't be power out there so you're going to have an electrician come in. aka not free either.

seems like ur just jumping into this without thinking it thru. If we're wrong then give us more details.

20-30 all together??? or u wanna pull down 20-30 every cycle ?? What kinda cycle ?? a 600hps will cover 6x6 area just fine... specially with agrosun red bulbs. if u want 30 in ur flower room 4 600hps will do good. 2-3 veg lights aswell. 4 good fans.... swamper...

20 - 30 plants is 2 - 1000w lights, go one of each or two hps lights... But the lumber was the least of your costs - electrician, lights, vents, light proofing the shiz out of that build.....

20-30 plants, haha n that much room, i would be doing more like 150+ under 600watts for every 16 plants, but then you gotta cool that so your going to need 3 10,000 btu ac window units, then your going to need hoods fans timers carbon filters ducting and this is just to get started, but big risk means big rewards!

sheds, garages or any buildings not connected to your house are the worst places to grow because of temperature control and security-jorge cervantes

ok heres the deal. I live way out in the country so im not worried too much about the risk and i have all the insulation i need and at a good cost so im not worried about that much either. as far as hiring and electrician you guys can bump on that cause i know how to wire a building and i can come off of the 3 existing breakers in the other shed that i have and ive already got the wire to do that as well. I really dont plan on using the whole 20' x 30' area anyway just enough of the area to grow about 30 plants or so. and ive also been thinking of installing some sort of secret room maybe with a hidden door book shelf or something like that. With that i would only have to worry about light proofing that particular area i also have to small window unit ac to control heat in the summertime and yes i have grown before but only out doors

Lemme get this straight, all you get for tearing down a house & barn is the lumber ? Have you ever been involved in the demolition of any large building before ?

Sounds to me like your being played by the property owner, there is ass loads of real work invoved in demo'ing a home & the promise of keeping the lumber nowhere near covers the labor ivolved.

Ask for $5,000 cash plus any lumber you might want to keep.

Thats cool, just that you said go big. In my opinion do more than 30 cuz you could get a really nice set up goin on. Know anyone who could do a tap ? I recommend it if you can get it done. You dont absolutely need AC's, theyre nice and all but use way more elec than a swamp cooler. So depending on where you live (humidity outside) you can duct a nice big swamper to be your intake and it will cool your room aswell. I still say use 600 hps for flower atleast, because they are more effecient than 1000 W hps . Get lumatek digital ballasts agrosun red bulbs with dew guard to hang them all 600 HPS. Hang 4 in your flower room. I personally just use same 600 hps for veg too, some perfer halide, i honestly dont see a huge diff Ive used em side by side in seperate rooms. Id put 2 600 with setup listed above in veg- set up ur intake/exhaust for that one and get a nice thermostat. See if you have this big building, what you do is build another one inside. So then you dont have this cheep looking shed with AC's/and or Swamper hangin out the windows. You put em inside and just duct em out (even paint the intake/exhaust outs and ins to match your lumber) make it look liek it really is just an older building. Thats my opinion : )

And what did he say about growing with CFL's? LMAO

He probably said get a real light! plus that is bs shed's are not that bad of a place to grow if you live in house with kid's, or if you don't won't people that come over to your house to have any idea that you grow.

yea there loads of sockets and would be too easy to fit the lights into the existing positions, and in the middlw where u see the puddle, there is a 4 foot deep pit with a board over, perfect for vegging lol, id love to but not worth the risk lol

You sure?!?!

If it was me, I'd have at least 3200watts of light in there, and only 500watts would be for veg and clones. Two flowering rooms and a veg room.
