Time-Lapse Photos

Time lapse can be both functional and fun. From making it look that your car is speeding, to just creating some funky special effects with lights and colours. In this thread I'm interested in any and all types of time lapse photography. I'd love to see what fellow riu members can come up with.

I saw a series of photos like this in another dimension that I visit every now and then. They're taken from a moving car at night, making use of all the pretty colours of the night to create a sense of movement or speed. I was so duly impressed that I tried some of my own. These are a couple of my faves.

We're in Australia. bongsmilie

Thursdays are lapping nights around here. The (generally) younger drivers take their cars out and drive an imaginary lap through the city. Other kids just sit on the sidelines and watch, others hang out at their favourite hangouts and catch up with their friends, etc. It's a whole social thing, and a good chance to take photos of nice cars too... :blsmoke:

hey ph03nix im from OZ too. Are u in sydney? Here in sydney well not directly in the city but a bit further away theres lots of cars on thursdays because of late night shopping. It sucks if your trying to get home from work.

Nah, not in Sydney... we're in Central Queensland.......... :eyesmoke:

so lapping is?.
just chilling.

Technically, it's driving your car around this imaginary 'lap' circuit. Just cruising... the odd short drag  (if the cops aren't around), the odd squeakie :o (again, if the cops aren't around), the odd burn-out :cuss:.

Well, that's how it all started... rev-heads showing off their cars. Nowadays, the locals have stretched the term so that it means more like the whole night out... you know? Cruising, chilling, catching up... the whole deal. Even kids who don't own cars will go 'lapping'... they're the ones watching from the sidelines.

I would like to see a few more of those but taken from a stable non moving surface (tripod, top of a mail box, etc)...

The lines are much smoother that way and you get really good detail... =]

Lapping, is that how dogs drink water... ??

heres a few of my fish and the local link road lol

Cool shots. What did you use to get the red line in the first one? We've got some similar ones, using glowsticks... I'll have to find them.

The second is my favourite. That's a nice looking crop, FDD. Are they your babies? No wonder you didn't want anyone else looking after them. That shot reminded me of one that Gryph took a while back... then, add a bit of photoshop... look, it's Rasta Krishna... :peace:
