I could not justiffy the Hortilux 'premium'
I purchased a Ushio HiLUX GRO lamp. Looked like a good spectrum, was a good price, came recommended.

is that after having tried hortilux?
I'll be changing it up a bit this time and running two mh the entire cycle. one a sunpulse 3k and the other a solis tek 4k, both 600 watt(because the "scientist" I emailed at sunpulse said 1kw lamps are too much for living things). both are made by sunpulse , the solis tek lamps are just sunpulse lamps made to different specs . I've heard good about sunpulse and I've heard bad. time to decide for myself.

No - never had a hortilux lamp. Last two grow were with generic (Philips?) HPS from Lowes. Also came recommended.
After ~ 1 year of use, I was ready for replacement & thought I would 'upgrade'. The Ushio was the product I chose. The extra cost (Ushio vs Lowes) seemed small when spread out over a year, and I wanted to try to improve my yield. I could not however justify the cost of the Hortilux over the Ushio (or other similar name-brand lamps). I got other stuff to buy ........

The Philips bulbs are solid. Also remember that at the end of the day, no matter what anyone else says...if you've dialed your grow op in to a specific bulb type, you like the results, it's in the budget and above all else, that you're happy.. that's what counts.
