Timber growlight question

Hello @DonaldsNugMachine

I saw your post and have to caution you on your disemination of incorrect facts.

We are not resellers of Jerry from Kingbrite. We do not use Jerry's reflectors - all of our optics come directly from the LEDIL factory in Finland.

We only use Cooliance heat sinks - they are custom drilled and tapped for us by the manufacturer.

We get our Meanwell power supplies through a master distributor in America, and our Cree COBs generally come direct from the manufacturer.

Your "markup" calculation is very incorrect and wildly inaccurate - I will not comment further on that.

Please do not post things which are untrue as they are misleading to people who are looking for knowledge, not only about Timber products, but LEDs in general. It is a very fast moving industry and the subject matter can be confusing - proliferation of lies/incorrect information helps no one.

Regards,

Dan

Well thats strange because another member said your reflectors match Jerry's @kingbrite.

I looked at your 4 cob kit and was wondering what Jerry would charge and turns out the parts are only ~$248 and shipping is ~$50.

So are you paying more than $248 for the parts?

@DonaldsNugMachine funny you forgot to also mention airwalkers comment a few responses below your reference.

"I apologize. The lighting in the photo on their page hid the lines to where I saw ONLY hotizontal. Ledil has BOTH. But jerry's are JUST horizontal only."

I can confirm that mine has both horizontal and vertical lines in the 300W kit I purchased 2 weeks ago.

"Ha, they're ripping people off with REFLECTORS FROM KINGBRITE. those are NOT Ledil brand angelinas. They have vertical lines on the inside. JERRY'S are horizontal like theirs."

Hi @DonaldsNugMachine,

If you read the post you are referencing above, you will see I also had to correct the poster on untrue information. We have never used Jerry's reflectors - as we state on our website, our optics are LEDIL - and we sell what we state.

I know Jerry personally and find him to be a good businessman, nice person and true to his word. Proper due diligence on your part would reveal the obvious differences between our kit and the products offered by others.

Regards,
Dan

Maybe you can provide proof you are a legitimate distributor of the brands you distribute for every part of your system. Until then, there is absolutely no reason to take you at your word that you actually distribute what you claim you do.

Regardless, your markup is absurd considering most of these parts are commodities. Why do I need name brand heatsinks? People don't give a shit about that imo.

People should be informed of the actual cost of parts and how much the markup is.

As far as I can tell you repackage components and tack on aprox $150 -200 to each of your kits

Lol.you dont have to buy from any of these suppliers. If you did some searching around you can maybe save 60 to 70 bucks on the parts sourcing them yourself, but then shipping will bring you back to around 40 or 50 bucks.so are these guys not allowed to make a 50 dollar profit on their product? If you dont like it shop elsewhere dummy.

You're saving a lot more than $50 if you go with Jerry and I was comparing it to what Jerry was SELLING for. Obviously actual costs are lower. It's not unreasonable to ask for proof that they are an authorized distributor of their products.

You know, it sounds like Jerry is a pretty solid guy who tries to do people solids when and wherever possible perhaps to a fault. I bet he'd frown on people like you. It is one thing to make clear various options folks have, but another entirely to bash people along the way with b/s. Honestly your whole demeanor is a turnoff to whoever's priducts you're a fan of.

No way you are going to hit $250 shipped for the 4 cob kit.

Per Jerrys current pricing you'll pay $300 before shipping. (Thats the cheapest I could find)

To be honest I have not been a fan of any of Timbers prefabs and had a really hard time understanding their pricing in the past.....
But those kits are a pretty solid deal.

Edit: reading the fine print the heatsink in the Timber kit is only 100mm dia. Unsure this is sufficient to cool 50w, they dont offer baseplate/pin specs.

His 200W COB Cree kit is $399, in fact he doesn't offer a single kit at that price. Where are you getting your information?

In any case, in the event I'd like to expand my kit, can you share where you can get the following for $250 shipped? Since your here looking out for folks it would be silly not to disclose your sources for the benefit of all no?

- 2x Cree CXB3590
- 2x Cooliance Heatsinks (or similar with posted aluminum grade)
- 1x Arctic 5 (or similar 99%+ silver content paste)
- 1x Meanwell HLG-185H-C700A
- 2x Ledil reflectors
- 2x Ideal diffusers
- 2x COB holders
- 1x Potentiometer

Sorry to come off as such a fan boy but posts like yours are what makes it so intimidating for us new guys... You're just FOS entirely.

Timber uses the heatsink in the top line of the cooling effectiveness chart linked below. At 50w (1.406a) their heatsink is perfectly suited for its job.

Jerry has cobs @ $35 I believe. Drivers at $42? For 1 driver, 4 cobs, thats only $182+$60 ship to US. $242 for drivers/cobs. The rest of the stuff wont cost you $158 I can assure you :) Also, it gets cheaper the more you purchase due to cheaper shipping costs. $60 will be the same for 1 or 4 drivers. Or you can save a bunch and go with ChinaPost which is slow but cheap.

Youre right, for some reason I was adding 2 drivers.

Changing to one driver plus everything else in the kit and $60 shipping its about $320 to your door.

So you save $80 mounting the cobs yourself (and you get KB reflectors instead of Ledil)

Does Jerry charge tax? Does Dan?

All included in my price.

Jerry charges $41.50 for cob/pad/holder/adapter/reflector
[$166]

$44.50 for the meanwell
[$44.50]

$9.50/pc for the heatsinks
[$38]

Thats $308.50 shipped

Power cord $5? Arctic silver paste $7 if you want to go that route?

$320.50

Tax is a wash if jerry even charges that.

I don't understand this at all...
Why does Donald give a flying crap how much profit Timber makes? What Timber pays and who Timber uses? What business is it of his?
Does he do that to Safeway? Or Exxon?

Buy from Timber or not. Buy from your Chinese friend...
