Ti Nail Size questions???

I recently purchased a ti Nail for an oil rig and I ordered the Highly Educated - V2 Titanium Nail - 14 mm. I assumed this meant that the part that sits in the glass on glass connector is 14mm wide. I measured my rig beforehand with a caliper and it came out around 12.5-13 mm. So I figured a 14mm nail would sit nice on top of the joint. I get the nail and it only measures 11mm wide at its widest point. Not 14mm. Did I get the wrong nail? Cause the place I ordered it from tried telling me that there would be a 10% restocking fee and that I would have to pay shipping both back to them and then back to me with the correct part.

Does anyone have any advise? The place I ordered it from is trying to make me feel like its my fault the nail is too small. And that I should pay a restocking fee. I asked them if the nail is supposed to measure 11mm or 14mm.

mine is also 11mm opening inside diameter... BUT, it grows as you go down... grows to 18mm diameter on the outside of the glass... which means its an 18mm piece.

therefore, you need an 18mm nail.

another way would be to measure the female hole on your dome... chances are its an 18mm dome (female end) going onto an 18mm male end, which holds your nail, which should also be 18mm.... then what it does after that doesnt matter. it might go down to a smaller "glass on glass" piece, which is 14mm. like mine.

heres what my bong looks like... 14mm at the bottom, then goes up to 18mm for my 18mm nail and 18mm dome.






for you, it might be cheaper to just buy a glass attachment and new dome... and just keep that 14mm nail and consider it a lesson learned

I assume youve got an 18 to 18mm piece... or a 14 > 18mm piece... more likely a 14 > 18... and your nail is too small for the 18mm top. so you need a 14 > 14mm piece with a new dome... here ya go. $14: throw away their shit glass (borosilicate) nail and use your nice TI one:

vacpurge, the globe is 19-20 mm wide at the bottom I.D. The part of the bong that actually holds the nail is 12.5mm I.D. The Nail I bought is just 11mm across on the head where you put your dab. And its 11.5mm wide on the middle thing that looks like a jet turbine. Either of these measurements dont come close to a 14mm nail. Unless these nails are measured in another way that I'm not seeing...

No advice, but we all like the KO domeless Titanium nail, which was donated for testing and which is as good as we've seen, so we keep using it.

if your globe opening is 18mm or so.. it means you got a 18mm joint and need an 18mm nail.

I am not 100% sure where they measure that from as nothing on my nail equals 18mm either. its because that 18mm measurement is the widest point of the glass on glass piece... and the nail sits on the skinniest point of the glass on glass piece as it tapers down..

basically, long story short, its easier and cheaper to buy new glass than it is to buy a new nail... just buy that converter piece I linked you for 5$ and keep that nail.
