Thrips or some sort of fungus ?

I first noticed spots on a young widow I have, and it rapidly moved to the other leaves. I was told that it was thrips, but I have scoped many leaves and haven't found a single sign of them yet. So I'm wondering if this could be fungus from gnats, please any help would be appreciated
