could use some advise on silica, searching the web say that it helps with strength and pest. question i have does it really work and does it affect the quality of the smoke. i'm new to all the indoor grow thing and have been doing a lot of searching until i found this site. i have a 5x5x7 grow room with 6 in exhaust fan and carbon filter, lighting is 400 watt h d for veg- h p s for flower. pro mix soil and gonna run blue planet nutrient . seen a sight saying best way to start as newbie was seeds pop put them straight into what you are gonna grow in ,i'm gonna use 3 gal pots. people dooooon't do it, my plant only grew 3 inches in 4 weeks. looked at another members thread about replanting those strechy plants, i thought what the hell probaly loose them anyway, man let me tell you i used some blue planet root magic mycorrhizae in the hole with the pro mix in solo cup these things shot up half in overnight. so appreciate the member tip. i really thought they would go into shock and die , i'm impressed. other than that i'm trying to get nitrogen right, leaves were a little pale before transplant gonna give it a few days to see what happens. any way suggestions on silica and how often to water in solo cups under 400 watt hd light 18 in high i would appreciate.

I use diatomaceous earth. I've heard it gives your plants a lil silica. I don't know for sure, but it also helps with insects, which you mentioned. Every once in a while I just sprinkle it around my plant on top of the soil. I also use it around the house at doorways to the outside and in the basement after I vacuumed.

With the cannabis growing scene there are to firmly established camps, 'organic' and the 'other' best called 'not organic',
you obliviously belong to the latter thats cool but the guys who are adding chem shit often end up with weird and yet wonderful grows,
see your product as medicine for you and others.. and IMHO it should be as clean and as pure as you can get it, for this reason,
I limit the amount of carpet- baggers, shit in my grows, much of the above is free if you only looked..

using Silica is the last resort to failing indica's, prior to supporting the plants with bamboo stakes,
thats all it is, to strengthen the main stem of adult plants with excessive kolas,
often used by external growers, who plant in a very windy location..
as an internal grower, you should have ample ventilation to extract 02 and heat,
making a gentle wind, that the plans will grow too
so no need for yet another wonder chem?
study ...study is the key

see diatomaceous earth ...D-Earth as what it is, great for food crops as you can poop out any D-Earth you ingest
but what of breathing it in...? very nasty shit indeed, continual use of this with your canna and you WILL start bleeding.
if so ...please see a doctor very quick ...

thats right you read it first on RIU

no shit

Should I stop using calcium too? I recently starting using some. I've never used it before. I'm using he supplement from nectar from the gods. I'm happy to believe it's extraneous On top of filtered well water.

I use silica blast as it does help with making the stems of your plants stronger. I have had quite a few broken stems from heavy colas in a strain I have been working on for a couple years. it is some dank but the stems were very weak. after using silica I have yet to break another branch. so take it for what it is worth.
