Thought I would play with a couple clones!!!

So I have a few clones left over and thought I would give this a try. Met this really interesting guy the other night and he was telling me about growing pot plants upside down like tomatos. So I gave it a try. Plant on top is a Blueberry gum and the one down south is a Maui Waui. They are in organic brown gold dirt. Gonna be interesting to see how they do. Especially the bottom one!!!

my horticulture teacher said the "topsy turveys" were just a gimmick and far from optimal. He says the plants need to fight gravity it wastes time and energy trying to get turned up. But i had a topsy turvy, stopped using though after that. I think it's cool though, and with a plant growing up to, you could have a round bush floaint in mid air. I would like to see how it turns out.

What if you were to do it indoor? Suspend it from the ceiling and light it from the bottom?

I dont think the plants will to oppose gravity will trump its desire to grow towards the light. It might keep it from growing complety upwards though, probably grow more horizontal branches till the weight of the buds start weighing it down

You should try that.

I'd be worried about dirty runoff water running all over the bottom plants buds....

Seems to work with tomatoes but yup perhaps next summer I'll give it a try, perhaps a few weights strategically placed .... Could put it on the fence with the petunias .

The little girls are doing alright so far. The guy told me when they are grown like this they don't have the stress on all the branches.

How does this reduce stress? Wouldn't there be as much stress, or more like that? Plant has to fight to right itself - stress. Evolution has made weed what it is today. If it were meant to grow upside down, the branches wouldn't reach for the sky.

That's what the guy said. Really haven't given it much thought. Just been enjoying watching the girls grow up!! Here's a night time shot of them!!

That's pretty damn cool actually it will be neat to see the finished product ......the only thing that kinda seems rough is watering without soaking the bottom plant with runoff yet getting everything nice and moist .......but very neat none the less

Runoff wouldn't be an issue if you control it. 1/2 GPH gravity drip. 500mL at a time.

Almost seems as if the bottom plants may stretch up the sides of the potter towards the light.

Here's a pic I just took. I water until it runs out the bottom hole. The side branches have grown up the sides of the basket looking for light. She is quite happy!!!
