This might be why music sucks and millenials are boring

i grew up on classic rock, im a little younger then most people here probably (27) but it is all i used to listed to. favorite band is zeppelin.. but i listen to pretty much all classic rock except for 3 bands lol. u2, kiss and bruce springstein. but all new rock is pretty much garbage. the only genre i really listen to for newer music is underground rap.. its not all about smackin ho's and making millions, most of it is pretty real stuff

this ones not really rap id say but its an amazing song

I was with ya there: Don't like U2 (So over rated) Kiss is a joke, and springsteen was good, Acoustic stuff, but I get off the bus at RAP. Just could never get into it.

it was an aquired taste... i got into it from working with someone who only listened to it. we'd put the radio on pandora and just add who we both liked into it.. it was always pretty funny.. itd be like stevie ray into some whacked out rap song.. then one day a group named atmosphere came on there and from there i found other shit i ended up liking

got that and a stratocaster for my 7th christmas then he took me to see Van Halen.. i think he really wanted a guitar player as a kid and it worked.. still play everyday

i agree with you to a point hooka.. i'm sure there's a bit of nostalgia for older music that we listened to during a certain age in our lives always holding fond memories for us.
on the other hand though, i have to say, imvho at least, the auto tune has killed a lot of modern music for me.. just the very second i hear that thing come into any song, i automatically auto tune out, lol..
the auto tune, and i think a lot of processed music is what i don't care for in a lot of modern music, someone hitting buttons of a drum machine rather than sitting behind an actual drum kit, as well as sampling machines, so on and so on, have taken a lot of the "soul" out of music for me..

my uncle's son from his second marriage is a pretty well known drummer.. well, he was, but i believe he's stopped making music and touring and is doing the family thing atm..
but yeah, for awhile, he was always going to europe and touring, mostly some hard metal groups.. he's also drummed for a fairly large metal band, but i can't name names on here obviously..
we were never close, so i don't really know too much about the guy tbh..

Totally. I was just refraining from starting to rant... too late!

While we're on the subject: whatever happened to not only songs that had a meaning but singers that actually wrote their own songs and can PLAY an instrument. A working knowledge of music? Not just a producer's creation (like Justin BEAVER).

And longevity or prolific careers? Don't even get me started. David Bowie, while stylistically not for everyone, made such a huge contribution to music in general. Those types are just dying off and not being replenished by this tripe called music. One hit wonders at best, The Voice, American Idol contestants. They can all mimic but lack any real substance.

Lady Gaga is an accomplished pianist, writer, and her voice is off the charts. So I guess she'd be okay, But Im comparing today's artists with greats like Page, Bonham, moon Townshend, Bowie, Hendrix, Joplin, IDK, maybe rock was younger then and it's got nowhere else to go now. Sad.

funny you mentioned lady gaga... i stumbled on this one day.. her jammin out to some zeppelin, and its actually really good
before she got really famous i guess...
only thing is she calls zeppelin reggae lol :wall:
