This is my idea for a grow cabinet i want to build. Sorry for it being blurry i tried my best to make it larger. The cabinet dimensions are 6'x4'x1.75'. Supplies consist of complete FoxFarm line up except for light warrior, superthrive for vitamins, Botanicare clearex, 400watt hps light, daystar hood w/lense, 3x 5-gallon bucket with lids and net cups, hydrofarm tower of power, activeair 265cfm blower, I ended up getting the phat filter 4"x20", hanging circulator fan, 2x 110cfm computer fans, digital tds meter, manual ph kit, external power strip, and walmart air stones and pumps. Total cost was a little under 1000 dollars. let me know what you think of my idea. As soon as i get the cabinet i will start posting pictures of the build. Shouldnt be to long from now. thanks.

idk where you live but with a 400 watt in a cabinet its going to get a little hot. just with the heat in an enclosed area , maby think about a cooltube? also rember anything that moves in there is going to produce heat. i live in texas so heat is a big thing here , i just wanted to show some love as i am also working on a cabinet : ) good luck man !

Yeah I had a tent around the same size and temps weren't a problem with just pc fans. I could only hope that with the blower it will be better, besides winter is coming so its gonna be pretty chillie where I live. Thanks for the input. You gonna be showing any pics or anything of your cab while your working on it?

I got a tip. does your lamp fixture have a air flange 4" or 6" something like that? if it does I would run air through your light. I have a cab about the same size set up just like that, but I have air going threw my light. My temp in there is a little hard to keep down. so yeah I would run it like this. exhaust fan to the light to the carbon filter.

your going to feel alot more radiant heat from that 400 watt with out air.

But sick setup, did you already buy all the stuff or just in the works now?

the daystar hood doesnt have any flanges but is capable of adding 4 inch adaptors (i made my own though that worked just fine). I thought about saving and getting another hood, but i doubt i will. Yes most of everything is already bought and paid for except for the cabinet. As soon as i can get some money for that then i will start building. I will keep yall posted.

i might take some pics of my cab when i go home today i have been working on it for about an hour every day and just today i think ill be done with the mane chamber tonight. but if you live in a cold area just make shure you have some way to get that cold air in the area efficiently. i would put the 400w in a closet or something and leave it on for 2 hrs so you can get a idea for how hot the cab is going to get. with something like this you want to make shure you have all your basses covered befor you start the project.

I agree. This is my third grow now and i have gone over room size probably a million times in my head and drawn out about 25 different variations of cabinets. My first grow started in a closet where there were no in vents just exhaust stayed almost at 94F with the door closed, open it dropped and stayed normal. Then this one rolled over into the start of my second grow and i also bought a 100 dollar ebay tent and temps were fine, but now i am looking for stealth, and i believe i have figured out what i am going to do as far as cabinet and ventilation. I am no stranger to air flow or possitive and negative pressure being in school for aircraft and a computer builder (these 2 fields require knowledge of airflow). So thanks for the input. Also i would love to see pics of what you guys are building for cabinets and stealth options (always interested in new ideas). Thanks guys/gals.

Well i gotta wait about 2 weeks or so before i can get my cabinet so i went on ahead and put my tent back up for the time being. Everything is fine inside my tent, the temps in the tent are only about 6F above my room temp which is only around 75F so that would make the ten around 81 which isnt bad at all. When i get the cab i think i can manage to get it at a constant 78. I also modded my daystar to accept air cooling i know kinda cheap and ghetto rigged, but hey it WORKS! I can lay my hand on the glass and it doesnt burn me so i would say i could keep the glass about 6-8 inches from the tops. Thanks for the replies and comments, +rep to everyone who has answered and commented.

hey man thats a sweet set up for sure. In your first pic are you just using one inline fan to suck the room air through a filter and then it passes through your light to get the warm air out of the tent?? Is this how you have it set up?? Im thinking of doing the same!! Good luck!!

yeah man thats how to do it, that is going to run alot cooler with making the light air cooled, your lamp has a glass shield right?

here is a pic of my cabinet, it runs at 80 with a MH bulb, and like 86 with an hps and i got the same exhaust as you and one computer intake.
