Third Grow: Snow White - 1000W MH for Veg 1000W HPS +750W Blackstar LED for Flower

Leaves on mine are starting to turn and I pulled a couple more spears out (think they will be 3/4 zip after drying) of my batch today and wow the LED works beyond my needs. I am pretty sure I will pull some more in a day or two trying to wait 3 to 5 days in between cuttings so I can try and track the time frames a bit more logically for the next time. Also I have some smell a vision problems I dumped a DIY can filter in the back and I have know idea if I broke any tops off as I can't see in the back too many tops. Dam stuff just grew every where, you are right next time I won't FIM so much as I cant work with all the bud sites so darn close together. I think truthfully even though my grow is minuscule by most standards I have at least 40ish small to big tops with only two main plants and that isn't counting what I can't see under the tops. Problem problems what the hell will I do with this stuff? LOL I am thinking about making some hash with a couple of zip's if I get that much.

I too have some 'Snow White' that I ordered from Nirvana. I only started one though.. because I have a ton of other strains that I just got from a breeder friend of mine.. and I wanted to grow out one of those strains for the same grow. So, I have one Afghani #1 and one Snow White. Both are the same age.. and are exactly 9 days into flowering (9 days since they showed sex). They both showed sex just one day apart too.. was pretty cool.

Anyhow, I'm not using anywhere near the wattage your using.. for personal reasons. But, I will warn you.. when yours starts flowering.. you better have some kind of carbon filter or air scrubber... because she's going to STINK. When I say stink.. I mean, man.. she'll stink up your entire house/grow area. Smells of absolute dank.. but its very very strong and powerful.. so just be aware of that.. since I warned ya!

Anyhow, if you have any tips for growing out this strain, I sure would appreciate it bro. This is my first go with the 'Snow White' strain, but so far I've had nothing but good results.. and I'm very very impressed with this strain. I think I'll be keeping this one in my 'favs' list.. especially if it smokes like it smells.. WOW!

Lastly, yours are looking very very nice... yours are more bushy/dense than mine. When mine started flowering, she fucking took off like a rocket man.. thats the other thing I want to warn you about. Once she starts flowering, not only will she REAK of dank... but she's also going to take off like a rocket bro. Make sure you keep your lights as close as possible to the top canopy to prevent too much stretch. I think I might have had my lights just a tad too far away from the top of her canopy.. she's got a little extra stretch to her. It's either that.. or I wound up with a stretchy pheno of the Snow White. Either way, I'm happy so far with the results.

We'll see about the stretch, hopefully it wont be really bad. I am Looking for LARGE plants however, hence the long veg and 10 gallon tubs. Hopefully I will get some 4-5 foot monsters. Im trying to see if 5 larger plants will produce similar results to 10 smaller plants. We'll see.

I have finally made up my mind and decided to flower with the metal halide and leds together, at least for now (might change after the first month of flower). I am about to purchase a VEG led, so we will see where that ends up for the next grow in a couple of weeks *white widow...

Other than that, everything is fine. They seem to love just getting fed molasses. I have only fed them nutes once and that was when I transplanted them. I am attempting a bootleg living soil. Last night they all got a taste of the new match of manure tea (goat manure, wood ash, compost, molasses and microbes) along with my fresh batch of humic acid and some more molasses.

Anyone who says molasses isn't good or useful is just plain wrong. These plants are fed to the max (starting to have a little tiny bit of yellow at the leaf tips), and that is all due to the microbes in the soil digesting the molasses. It can't get much better than that for the plants, perfect fertilizer. Hopefully the teas will add the extra N and K needed for the stretch. I am not a fan of adding P until the second month of flowering. I see the stretch as a strictly vegetative part of the growth. Flower size comes later and all depends on how well and healthy you keep you plant through the stretch. That is kinda the same reason I am keeping them under the MH for now too, I got really nice leaf growth out of my last batch by doing this. Once the stretch slows and the bud production really ramps up, I might toss them under the HPS with the LEDs. Again this all depends on how well the grow is doing.

looking good ... that tea sounds tasty too! (for the plants of course)

Hey Hud, and fellow practicing horticulturists not sure if I am the first or not. Had an old Ionic Breeze put some pipe cleaners thru the vents on the back and pipe cleaner on the bud stalks, wahla. In the bed room zero off gas smell on the MK which is very neutral as we all know. Will be interesting if this work with the skunk strains. Talk about doing a very nice controlled dry takes a good bit of time but very easy to check the flower tops. I leave the pipe cleaners on even when I move to glass in case they need more breeze. Seems to work but when the buds are 5 inches around they take a long time with indoor humidity around 27%. I noticed that within a day of returning spears to glass the dank is comes back quickly.

Shit, sorry for the long span of no updates, I have been traveling and having to deal with a flood in my basement. All in all the plants got a little more water than they asked for 3 nights ago, but its looking to be okay. Minor moisture stress. leaves are a tad droopy, def going to feed them a big of P next watering. They get really big and they seem to have taken the blow from the flood pretty well.

New pics - Today marks 3 weeks of 12/12 - Nice little buds coming along. All 5 plants are looking nice. I can't believe that those 5 plants fill out almost all (if not all) of that 4'x4' grow room.

how tall are them and do you see a differents in the led compare to hps during flower

wow guys, sorry about the delay...My job starts to get amazingly fucked up this time of year and consumes a lot of my contemplation time. Here are some new pics to carry things on.

to Dankydee - There are anywhere between 2 feet to 2.5 feet tall and bent at least 6-8 inches from the base. During flower the led is great, not that HPS isn't, but they are good at two different things. HID is great for saturation and penetration (as well as adding some heat - which is why I use HID with my LED) and LED is great for UV emittance and spectrum bolstering.

In comparison I would say that LED gives better quality, and HID gives more weight. I mix both for the best of both worlds.

Quick update: water, molasses, and tea feeding yesterday, tossed a half feeding of jacks classic bloom in each one, things are looking nice, that one plant just wont unclaw those leaves on the main cola, but the rest of the plant is looking tight - Pics:

Depends on how the trichs look. I won't go past 9 weeks. The bud is exploding now so hopefully 8 will be cool. I like to cut when I see the trichs start to turn milky

Alright, a good old molasses and tea feeding between last post and now. Had some fungus gnats (which don't bother me too much) and gave them a pyrethin bomb. Other than that, cant wait until the 28th....
