Thermometer Placement

Greetings!

I just had a quick question about temps. I currently have 3 plants at about 3 weeks veg. They are each under 42w+23+23 CFLs. I am measuring the temps at the surface of the dirt under each plant and am getting 28-29 degrees c.

My question is, do people normally measure the temps this close to the plant? Is 28-29 degrees okay? I am measuring the temps at the dirt for the worst case scenario. I think the air in the room is closer to 26-27c. The drawing is of my veg room. Haven't started flower yet...

Oh and the darker trapezoid is going to be my bubble cloner. The 3 plants are mommies. :D

You should take the temps ideally at the top of your canopy. The tops of the plants.

This should be ideally no higher than 28C.

My canopy level is always under 27C and the ambient room temps range from 24C-26C

So I just realized I'm going to have res temp issues when I load up by aero cloner... The pump sits in the water. how to cool off??? I took my carbon scrubber off cause my fan doesn't push enough air ..

If your fan doesnt push enough air then surely there is only one feasable solution?

Bigger fan.

As for Res cooling you should try to have your res around 19-21C if it is higher than this it can lead to root rot. If you cannot get your Res temps down you could throw some ice into it to help it keep cooler or try having it outside of your grow room.

I just bought my 3rd exhaust fan that's not quite strong enough... I know the answer I guess I'm just frustrated. Any suggestions on a good exhaust fan (Quiet!!!)? My room is approx 4 x 3 x 8 = 100ish cubic feet. I have tried 80 CFM, 150 CFM and finally a large Stanley floor blower. Each evidently didn't move enough air.

No I have a small squirrel cage fan with a duct mounted to the back of it drawing cool air in from another basement room. I then have the floor blower with a duct mounted to the output running the hot air out of the room. I had a carbon filter attached to the output but it's got too much air resistance. I'm going to try to repack the carbon with a less dense material mixed in to allow better air flow. I also plan on adding an additional in-line fan to each to help facilitate air flow. I will have pics very soon. Those CFLs get way warmer than I thought! But my plants look healthy still :)
