Thermal Imaging Detection INFO

I did a little test today for those who worry about cops checking for heat signatures. I am a firefighter and borrowed the Thermal Imaging camera we use to find people in zero visability smoke filled houses. These are designed with military technology at a price of 15000.00 each. I powered up 2 1000w and 1 400w lights in a 8 x 12 bedroom in a standard home. I placed a inline fan and plumbed a 6" line out the window for the exhaust. I let the lights run for 4 hours to get the room good and hot. The room temp was 102 degrees. The outside temp was 58 degrees.
I started at 10 feet away from the window targeting the heated exhaust and there was a definate heat signature. 20 feet it was present, 30 feet it was presesnt, 40 feet it was slightly noticeable, 50 feet it was all but gone with an occational change, 60 feet the same and at 70 it was completely gone with no trace of abnormal heated exhaust. This would be the view from a aircraft. If they were on the ground looking directly at the window it was visable out to about 30 feet. The glass creates a reflection and confuses the imager, so angle means everything. As a side note the wurley bird vents on the roof puts out almost the same amount of heat signature.
That was my findings so take them for what there worth. I couldn't imagine the police using something much better than the camera we use. It is my understanding from several of my former cop buddies who have seen the light and are now firemen that he police and national guard dont regularly use thermal imaging anymore for this reason. They are using cameras that detect wavelength light emitted and absorbed by plants. This has no use on indoor growers.

Very nice info..puts a lot of minds at rest I would have thought!

A canvasser came to my door recently from that comapny that has that annoying bastard advertising BOGOF...You Buy One, Get One Free..hate that prick! Anyway, he had a card with him that had the heat signature of a house with "warm" red areas around the windows and doors etc. He said (and it mentioned it on the card too) that the government are trying to put in aplace a system of them coming outside your house and testing it fior heat loss and evetually to charge you money for it, in an effort to get you to me more insulated and what have you.
Now...the pic could quite easily have been doctored and I'm sure it waill have been for "dramatic purposes" but if it really is true then it's maybe something that home growers should be keeping an eye on. It could however just be a total load of shit 'cos I've not heard it anywhere in press.

Great info man...yeah glass is your friend when it comes to IR. Did you know you can beat a home security system that has IR with a big pane of glass? I saw it on mythbusters and tested it for myself. If you hold glass inbetween you and the sensor it doesn't register. I always thought that would translate over for grow room security...sounds like I was right. Maybe we should line the outside of the room with glass!!
