There's NO Humidity here, need to slow down drying!

Hello everyone. Been growing for almost 3 years. Have grown some dank ass nugs, BUT! By the time it's dry it has barely any taste, and seems to be really harsh, and unpleasant.

What I could never understand was how dank my bud smelled, and looked. I have always been a believer in flushing, so that wasn't the issue. I changed nutrient companies more than Brangelina adopt kids:eek:! And after all that $$$ spent and time put in, my nugs still came out tasting horrible.

I have tried all the methods of harvesting, drying & curing. Here's the thing. There is very low humidity, where I am. RH is 37% in my bathroom, and that's with my lil humidifier in there.

Now I harvested 2 days ago, and I went in my bathroom to check on things, and already the bud felt a lil dry to the touch. Almost a soft cushiony texture, if that makes sense. I know the inside is still fairly wet, but I decided to rip a piece off, and YUM, YUm, YUM!

Now this bud is NOT dry yet, AN I KNOW THIS! BUT the flavor I'm looking for IS THAT RIGHT THERE. That yummy full taste. With sweet flavors, that when u take a drag, its smooth, and when you let it out, it tickles your throat, and you cough but NOT because of the harshness, but because of that tickling sensation. I know that makes sense to someone out there!

So here's my question??? How do I keep that flavor alive?? I know I gotta slow the drying process down, but how? I always wait till I can snap the stem, but by then my bud seems to dry, and the harsh flavor is locked in. I still put them in jars to try to cure, but the jar process seems to make it worst.

So I am thinking about gettin a humidifier for the drying purpose on the next dry. BUt for now..... Should I go ahead and throw them in paper bags, to slow the drying down, or should I throw them in jars while they are still wet, and just keep and eye on them?

Keep in mind... As of right now, they've been hanging for 2 days and a few hours.

i would just throw them in paperbags now then let them dry for three or four more days then right into curing jars

You trim before you dry? I leave my plants fully intact and it takes about 8 days for the stems to snap.

When you cut a plant and hang to dry, the transport of fluids within the plant continues, but at a much slower rate. Stomata close soon after harvest, and drying is slowed since little water vapor escapes. The natural plant processes slowly come to an end as the plant dries. The outer cells are the first to dry, but fluid still moves from the internal cells to supply moisture to outer cells which are dry. When this process occurs properly, plants dry evenly throughout. Removing leaves and large stems upon harvest speeds up drying; however, moisture content within the "dried" buds, leaves and stems is uneven. If buds are dried too quickly, chlorophyll and other pigments, starch, nitrates are trapped within plant tissue, making it taste green, burn unevenly and taste bad.

When dried relatively slowly, over a period of seven days or longer, moisture evaporates evenly in to the air, yielding uniformly dried buds. Slowly dried buds taste sweet and smoke smooth. Taste and aroma improve when pigments breakdown. Slow even drying where moisture content is the same throughout stems, foliage and buds allows enough time for the pigments to degrade. Hanging entire plants to dry allows this process to take place over time.

When you jar the buds you are beginning the curing process which is essentially allowing the buds to finishing drying slowwwly and even allowing q minuscule amount of moisture to be retained within and dispersed throughout the bud to the point of a perfect saturation. Similar to conditions within cigar humidors, you want the buds to be uniformly perfect. Well cured buds smoke and burn evenly and will not burn the throat or taste grassy or green.:joint:

Hope that helps

I completely understand that. I didn't have time to explain that I have dried ALL ways. Wat I'm saying is my buds dry quick. I have tried to slow it down by leaving the leaves on but they're still drying at rapid pace. I DO NOT blow fans on them. I blow away from them. The only thing I can think of is that the RH is 37%. I need to try to slow down their drying process and how. I completely understand WHAT happens when you slow dry. I'm tryin to figure out HOW I can slow this drying down.

https://www.rollitup.org/harvesting-curing/372110-ganjaluvrs-drying-curing-broken-down.html According to this post you are waiting to long to start the curing process.
Freakin AWESOME info! Dude years I've been following these videos by unnamed well known growers. Reading books. And they all say. UR BUD CAN't BE READY IN A FEW DAYS. So I leave my buds till they're dry, and the stem snaps. By then the bud tastes how it's gonna taste. So I should just start by slowing t down by jar or paperbags? Should I out in bags for a couple more days, then jar?

i also live in a dry climate and have dealt with this exact problem. i like to throw drying buds into paper bags when they seem too dry on the outside, or i throw them in a cardboard box the cardboard box or bag help to maintain a better humidity level and a slower more even dry.

Do you wait till the bud is dry, or the outside start getting dry,and the bud is soft to touch? I feel that once my bud is too dry on the outside, it's normally too late to get any taste out of it.

a little crispy on the outside but still spongy to the touch. usually thats about 1-3 days.

Thanks Irieie! Thats wat I'm thinking. 2morow, when they're a little dryer, and spongy feeling, I will throw in paper bags.
your welcome. figure out what meets your needs best and use that. good luck.

Buy a ultra sonic fogger online $32 (they are made for ponds) make sure to get the floating bouy $17 (sometimes free). fill a 5 gal bucket and run the fogger all day. If the humidity as high as you want it then put a small fan pointed at the bucket. Works amazing. Be careful though. The humidity will rise very fast and can get to 90 % RH before you know it. If you are drying in a bathroom, you shouldnt need a fan. Next harvest try to keep it at 60 % RH. Remeber You would rather have you bud take to long to dry then to fast. do this until the outside of the buds feel relitivily dry but the inside will still me moist. then switch to jars. open lid twice daily for a week or so. you want like 10 % moisture inside the bud when done but hopefully you already know this.

Ive been having this problem to But i figured 37% Humidity is way better and closer to 45%(Which is Target RH) then my Situation (My Humidity is 16-21%) Ive tried my Bathroom ive tried my Growtent with a Tote of water and rags everywhere But my RH never goes past 21 and my buds are usually bone dry in 2.5 days(Almost Fluffy and Airy even thought grown under a 600w).... Next run im going to try chopping the whole plant cutting off anything All leaves besides the Sugar Leaves if that doesnt work then im going to kick a whole in the wall then go get a Digital Humidifier
