I agree with Old Luck. Mold shouldn't be an issue. Most of my KM phenos colas weren't overly dense, so mold was/is never a concern.
well it was more a concern to me since its concrete which has a tendency to be cold and get damp, you guys might be right but I decided to play it safe and I've trimmed out alot of the budsites that were along the wall... just the shaded ones reallly, any lollypopper would have got rid of them anyways. and removed some of the fan leaves that were making alot of contact with the cement. It kindof opens up a channel for airflow along the wall. Next grow will be in the open space of a 10x20 room(unfortunately only 6 foot ceiling) and mylar will be used in such a way as to make it movable, so it wont be a problem next time.

Yes oldluck the flouros would be in the corners of the room vertically for side lighting. All those future grow plans are being changed in my mind over and over with different ones though. What I want to do is have 4 separate flowering areas in the room, so that I can run 4 completely different styles of grow. I'm thinking of going with super-soil just to make life easier so all I do is add water.
I want to do a 1 plant/1k light grow. a 6 plant/1k vertically hung grow. a 1k SOG grow. and I havent decided on the 4th option yet...

Does anyone know what a good GPW is in super-soil? I like the ease of use but if the yield is too low I may go for DWC, rDWC and ebb&flow

Your yield is dependent on your environment, lighting, hood design, plant food and of course strain. I'm sure SS yields just fine when used correctly but dirt really isn't going to yield as well or grow as quickly as hydro. Kali also wouldn't be my first choice for huge yields. That's connoisseur stash ;)

no i wouldnt be using Kali for those three grows.
I'd like to find a strain that will make a high yield either as a SOG, vertical barebulb with 6 plants, or a 1k/1plant type grow. I'd like to run all three techniques at the same time, using the same medium and compare the results yielded from each bulb. Kinda just to make things interesting really. plus if I can get the same yield from a 1plant/1bulb SCROG(though the veg will obviously have to be very long) as I get from for example a SOG than that would be awesome because a scrog for me would be much easier than a Sog.

Has anyone ever seen a 1gpw soil grow? I'd like to find one and take some notes

oh nooooo

My Dyna-Gro bottles sound like they have gravel in them when you shake them....

They must have been on the store shelf for a long time...

Simon, I take it your growing in soil then? Could you provide me a link to a grow journal of yours?
I grow in Pro-Mix. The B'cuzzz brand (essentially HP) with nothing added. I haven't done a grow journal since Overgrow. Below is a thread that shows how I train and prune for high yield and it also show the progression of a plant, as an example:

https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=187887

Here's what I can tell you: two elements are absolutely crucial - light intensity and genetics. If I had to pick the number one factor, it would be the genetics. Genetics, genetics, genetics. You're not going to get the of stuff I'm talking about by buying clones in a club. It takes a lot of work and a fairly long time (I usually run at least 3 cycles) to isolate the right mom, starting from seed of course.

Here's a thread by a net-friend of mine, with a link to his grow journal, who runs his op very similarly to mine:

This is upsetting...

I tried warming it to almost boiling and the white precipitate would not dissolve

Now I have no way to know what is still left in the solution or in what ratios

It's a base nutrient for flowering. I might still use it I dont know...
I have no idea what I will buy to replace it(dont think I can find any more anywhere else around here)

I could always go 100% H&G but I figured I would have been able to make them flower a bit more with a better NPK like Dyna-Gro has

you could always use roots ;) the organic line of roots has never let me down! buddha bloom, HPK and HP2 are particularly helpful.. im still lurking :D

I'm going to stay away from anything "organic" until I know a bit more about the science behind it. I'm totally confused when it comes to "organic" that you would buy as a liquid and use an EC meter with. To me it sounds like that's just another salt based nutrient? So I must not be fully understanding something.

To my mind there are 3 possible ways to feed a plant-

-properly ammended soil with the organic(carbon bound) nutrients the plant needs being provided from the soil/micro-life
-compost teas used to water inadequately ammended soils. The tea providing the organic(carbon bound) nutrients needed for the plant
-salt based(inorganic) nutrients being fed to the plant with no further processing from micro-life required, aka "hydroponics"

Definately not saying that's the reality of it, but that's as far as I understand it in my own mind.
So I still don't understand what a "organic" nutrient would be if your measuring it out with an EC meter.

I'm trying to find something close to the 1-3-2 ratio for flowering, but I haven't seen anything specifically with that ratio.

Picked up a bottle of FF Tiger Bloom
Just looking at their trio of Grow big, Big Bloom, and Tiger Bloom, and I like what I see

The Tiger Bloom does not have crystals rattling around in it, and it has the same NPK profile as the Dyna-Gro Bloom(2-8-4 for the Tiger Bloom)

It's not overly expensive either and as I've been hearing you really don't need all the additives people buy to get a heavy harvest, so I'll just be sticking to the base nutes from now on, so my cost per gallon of solution should be well within acceptable limits, even if I'm not buying the cheapest base nutes

So pretty much I'm set now, I can get the NPK I was looking for with the Dyna-Gro using the Tiger Bloom

Does anyone have any advice as far as Cal/mag is concerned with Tiger Bloom and coco? the TB has zero Calcium in it so I'll need to figure out how to work around that.

It looks like my "less is more" approach with the Humbolt Counties Bush Master, has been working for the plants. We're now 9 days in 12/12 and I've seen only 7 inches of vertical growth! I hear the first week is the most intense for stretch, so things are looking good. The canopy is growing a little less evenly now, with some shoots growing faster than others but overall it's good. It's low, it's fairly even and it's packed with budsites and foliage. I'll use the BM for the next 4 days and then I'm going to discontinue using it and let the plants focus on the flowering.

One thing I am noticing with the new pistils is that some are already drying out and shriveling. These are pistils that have only been around for a week or two and they are drying out. It is mild though. For the most part all the leaves look very healthy(except some possible Mag deficiency lower down). All I can think of is either the BM is doing this or my nutrients are too strong.

I watered 12 gallons today(after waiting 3 days):
ppm in-850
ppm out-1700
pH in 5.8
pH out 5.8
- the ppm out should drop as I will not be waiting 3 days between waterings anymore. That was just a final push to encourage some more root growth before flower

If anyone can link me to a tutorial on Cal/Mag/Potasium ratios and dosages I would greatly appreciate it

So the last few pages have been just talk... I figured it was time for some pictures

Sorry about the "blue". All my lights are between 5500K and 7000K

a little bit of Calcium deficiency(I think). And look... my garlic is still alive!

Lots of big pistils growing now. 9 days into 12/12. This is definately Mag deficiency. Added some Epsom Salt

It has been 1 week and 2 days since 12/12 flip. I think the Bush Master may be having some influence on the plants making them flower a little sooner than normal... though I still would'nt say they are "flowering" but the nature of the growth is totally different than before. More tighter nodes and there is a bud like formation at the end of each growing tip

Yea growing is pretty fun. I like flipping through all my photos from start to now. This plant is very captivating
