Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies responding to a burglary call in a Rancho Palos Verdes neighborhood stumbled upon a $1-million marijuana-growing operation, authorities said.
About 2:30 p.m. Thursday, deputies were dispatched to the neighborhood, where they surrounded a home, believing a burglary suspect could be inside, authorities said. A man, Tom Kim, 37, emerged from the house and was detained.
After clearing the house, the deputies found an “elaborate marijuana grow operation,” according to authorities.
Hundreds of plants were found in the backyard and throughout the house as well as $10,000 in cash, the Sheriff's Department said. One room contained a number of marijuana-filled jars, packaging material and a scale, the department said.
The marijuana was estimated to be worth about $1 million, the department said.
Kim was arrested, officials said, and his common-law wife, Molly Hwang later turned herself in to authorities. They were later released on $100,000 bond.
Their child, who was at school during the raid, was taken into protective custody, officials said.

Ladybugs are simply treating the symptom and not the problem. They do not stay put in the garden and fly into lights. If you have mites, clean up and start over with fresh seed or mite free clones. Fighting mites is a losing battle.

Ladybugs are great they're just not for mites. They're great for aphids and a couple of other pests. I had a pretty good aphid infestation on one of my first few grows and the wiped'em out in no time. Plus they look totally badass in your garden Ask TC

^I got ladybugs "Asian Beetles" naturally. Billions of then leave the fields at harvest and enter homes. They stay with me all winter. I don't use them for pest control because if I have mites or other hard to kill pests, I'm starting over. It's not worth wasting my time tending plants with mites. Mites in my area are the only threat.

I don't like pests, that's why I moved from soil to rockwool, and now sure grow cubes. And I'll tell you what, my nat problem is about 99 percent gone. But even me being a little sloppy when placing the smaller cubes into bigger ones, I still see a few flying around. They should be gone now though (hopefully) as I'm using tightly meshing piece sizes.

Just for the distraction value if nothing else, I dont like dealing with bugs, drives me frikkin crazy...

I've grown extensively and exclusively for years in soil, and to be honest I really don't see much (if any) difference in the end product, of, rockwool versus soil if you do it right.

Hey sub what did your lung doc have to say about vaping? Its supposed to be healthier but it seems like i cough as much if not more vaping

I think a lot of the coughing from vapor is from having the temperature set too high. I have an old model volcano, and I find if it is on 7, you get thick vapor, but I cough. I set it just above 5, and it is not as thick, but is way smoother and still has a great effect.

I won't use a vape period its a personal choice

Super heated = any temperature above the boiling point of a liquid.
Subcool = any temperature below the saturation condensing temperature is subcool
Super heated, super soil, super cool, subcool, weed nErd
Just putting it out there and I was always told if it feels good out leave it out.

I use the classic volcano, set on 6. No coughing AND I get a lot of taste out of my Jillybean stash. I can really taste the rainbow! LOL Even more than when I roll a joint. That said, I rarely cough smoking Jilly either. I've been curing since January, and that is one smooth smoke.

So Sub, why no vaping? It would seem like a mild version of smoking hash, since they both deal with heating the trichomes, not burning the plant matter. Just curious...

Just purchased my silver surfer vape not to long ago and its great, I'm not even thirty and my lungs hurt so much from the way I smoke. I do still smoke my doobies and hit the bong and pipe every once in awhile.

I've always said that smoking cannabis is barbaric. Smoking hash and vaping are two sides of the same coin. Both remove the plant material from the equation. I vape when I have cannabis and smoke when I have hash.

I really enjoy the *smoking* part of smoking weed, so I'm biased, but I do own a digital volcano vape and have tried a few others. Ever notice how sticky the inside of a vapor bag gets? I don't think it is just the heat that makes some people (including me) cough more when vaping. The smoke coming out of a pipe *must* be hotter since it is from combustion and is inhaled directly from the heat source. I question if vaping is really that much better for your lungs vs a bong.

As sub said, it is a personal choice. No one method of ingestion is right for everyone. Calling smoking flowers "barbaric" is just silly, but you were kidding I'm sure.

Well, as we all know, what we read on the internet isn't always true (no, really, it isn't! LOL) but I was interested by some instructions that I read about using the Volcano, and I think these were instructions from the manufacturer. It said that proper use of the vaporizer means NO visible smoke, either in the bag or coming out of a user's mouth on the exhale. If you see smoke, you're using too much heat. You want to dial it down until you don't see any smoke, but a few vapes does get you high.

This made sense to me in regard to Sub's comment about not holding smoke in the lungs.

I have purchased every major brand Including a Volcano, Silver Surfer, and 8 other models and I simply can't stand the taste or the high.
I am who I am just like Popeye
I'm a pot head and I like Pot Smoke, I am also very hard headed and its nearly impossible to get me to change my mind on something.
My choice is to continue to smoke but not during the day and only a few bowls in the evenings.
I am scheduled for a barrage of test this week so wish me luck.
One thing I am embarrassed to say is I will probably smoke Hash till the day I die even if it is what kills me

Thank you all for inviting me into your home (via youtube), showing me your grow room, showing me your outdoor garden, taking me with you on cannacups and hempfests. Teaching me a few dinner recipes. Rockin good tunes. Getting me high when I log on. And not taking yourself too serious when you fall in your outdoor garden. I wait with baited breath on a daily basis for the newest episode of "The weed nerd". I just can't thank you enough for educating me and entertaining me for free. I thank god you are not charging $$ for your vids.

I definitely prefer smoking as well but I'd really like to get away from it for the obvious reasons. The classic problem of course that nothing's really like smoking Vaping's pretty close. My prob is with smoking I almost automatically don't inhale too deep otherwise I'll cough... with vaping it feels like I can take in a lot more so I take in too much I do start at lower temps and crank it up as the vapor thins to get as much out of it as I can. It definitely goes further if you do that.

Sub I don't really care if you vape I was more asking did your doctor mention anything about it? Did he say vaping is ok or that even vaping is a no go?

Oh well, back to trimming more timewreck... this one looks to be 3-4z and looks like probably the winning pheno for weight + bag appeal/frost + vigor... hopefully the smoke backs it up
