The Vault’s Blue Dream’matic Auto Comparative Grow – in association with FastBuds

These were taken on day 10 from breaking the surface (Tues morning). Also took a pic of the entire cabinet to show what I grow in. Some of the new comparative growers may not already know it is a converted chest of drawers with household led bulbs.

I struggled to get a decent root system last grow I did, so I started these in a small 1L pot. That way at least I can be sure I am not over watering and can give the roots a glance when I re-pot. Last time the roots wouldn't even have filled a 1L pot, and the plants never seemed to look 'happy'. Results were ok, but I want to improve my newbie growing skills. Trying something slightly different might work, it might not, but at least it is worth a try.

Both varieties seemed to stall for a few days, then have taken off again. I assume they were busy underground. The Brooklyn Sunrise is slightly smaller than the Blue Dream'matic at the moment, but that may all change!

Plants are only a couple of inches high, with very close almost touching nodes. I would much rather them be like this than stretchy plants that will fill my space before they even finish stretching.

Transplanted last night (tues) into a 10L pot - roots were just about hitting the bottom and edges of the pot but not circling, so I think I timed it right. Didn't take any pics in the new pots.

Hi guys, I have now officially closed the Comparatives.
There was a lot to get through, but we got there in the end, and every one of the Comparative seeds has been used up :)
This does mean though, that there are no replacement seeds left, so hopefully everyone’s package reaches them, as we have no reserves.

Enjoy the Comparative guys :)

I've got two Just hit the water for a 24hr soak..or until they drop. Then it's into paper moist towels until I see em split.
I was expecting to get 3 seeds, and my idea was to run a couple (I dont have any experience with autos) and work out the kinks, then do the 3rd seed and give it good run.
Looks like I'll just be doing 3 on the next run haha.

not much to show yet, slightly larger containers than i usually use for seedlings. these are usually what i pot up into first, but since i plan to only repot them once, i went for this container to begin with. still waiting for the root building to finish up.
in promix with 20% extra perlite. gave them each 5 ml of 100 ppm jack's 20-20-20, plan on watering twice, feeding once routine.
they're about 8 inches from 300 watts of t5, 200 watts of 6500 and 100 watts of 3500, like that mix, get good growth without too much stretching

as soon as they start doing anything interesting i'll start making separate posts...

Got 2 that just popped, looking forward to this one . I'm starting them under hps due to space limitations but in a couple weeks they will go under my led with 6 COB lights .I'm using Mill's nutrients Recharge and some supplimental bat guano if needed . Growing in black gold peat mix and top feeding .

Have you used mills much, what do you make of it? I have the a&b and feed at about half recommendations.

Only one of the two I germed has cracked, it went into soil yesterday and it's already poking through. Shame about the other one..if it doesn't crack in another day or so I'll bin it.

Pics taken on day 18. Running 150w of household led bulbs 20/4.
Neither plant seemed to have a problem with transplanting into 10L pots on day 10. Using a different soil than my usual B&Q Verve - last bag I bought was very poor with lumps of wood etc in. I read that Lidl own brand peat based multi purpose compost came top of 'Which' magazine tests of compost, so got a few bags of it for both the garden and my grow. It seems to have a lot less crap in it, and our hanging baskets etc are really taking off much better than last year when we used Verve.
I have been LST'ing like crazy for the last few days and now have several tops. I will probably let her grow now then may do it again. She is very short but very bushy which is exactly what I need in such a small grow area. Both plants due a water later when I get home, pot is very light.
p.s. Anyone else having problems uploading pics via a mac or iphone? Keep getting about 10% uploaded then an error message. Using a pc works fine.

Not topped at all, just bent the main shoot over lst style for a few days.
The led household bulbs are only a foot away at highest point in my small cabinet, and they really seem to help produce very low, very bushy plants. I get no stretching for the light at all. Might not be good for some people but is exactly what i need in that small space.

Nice! I was thinking of doing some lst on mine too, but I might just let it grow out one main instead...you've gave me hope though :-)

I've seen some other users have issues with MAc uploads this last week. Not sure why they have been experiencing this

I started to germ 5, 4 popped within 24 hrs the 5th just didn't do anything.. put them in 1 quart pots and in the next 24 hrs 2 broke threw and were visible. the other 2 just didn't pop up.. The next day 1 just laid over and died, the last one stayed strong for a week but had Zero growth then just disappeared..

So i started the other five, 1 seed was broke and fell apart when i touched it. So i germed the other 4 all popped in 24 hours and thats where im at now..

Mine are going along well, IMGP0360.JPG , the one on the right was the first to need some light LST, just bending the top over so some lowers can come up. Here's a look at all 4 from the comp IMGP0353.JPG . You can see I use some wire fencing here, I have a 4x4 PVC square hung from the corners with light hangers to keep the sides from sucking in too much, and it only made sense to lay a square of the fencing on it, easy peasy.IMGP0361.JPG

I've used it once before with decent results. I use about half the recommended dose as well. Honestly I got the nutes for free from a podcast so I'm using them. I wouldn't go spending money on Mill's, there are a lot of of similar products for less $$
