Truth is it would take a few grows to be able to gain back its worth, but if you're dedicated, and have 600+ to drop... go for it.
 
a couple grows ... then it starts paying YOU !! the panels should be good for 25 years and the batteries 10 years if you take care of em
any body here good with crunching numbers ?
think this would be good with one panel and about 8-10 hours of sunlight each day ?
 
Math isn't good.

running a 400W from a 135W panel?

You lose a lot. Inverters will hog a good percent.
plus battery charging, more loss.

I wouldn't even try a 400W lamp with less then 600W of panels.

Don't forget the permits and inspection. Insurance co wont pay out.
