The Truth about Memory Loss!!

I think this could go in different directions, although i am ditzy at times while high. or occasionally putting things aside. does that make Us forgetful. or does that make us high beyond our glory, or is the good ole green stuff just depriving our brain cells of oxygen causing short term, or perhaps long term memory depletion? I think i have a good memory.......but some may disagree.

I have heard that it affects the hippocampus. the part of our brain which converts short term memory into long term. So, without much research or any sorces im gonna guess it only effect or impairs the memory while your high. could be wrong who knows lol

Thats very interesting to me actually, because there was definitely a period of my life that I just can't remember, and I accredited to the amount of weed I was smoking, but today I smoke just as much, yet I'm able to remember everything really, but I'm also much more productive now then I was then too, so I would think you have memory loss when it is your only part of your life, but when your still a productive member of society even though you maybe high all the time you can remember that productivity. This makes a lot of sense to me because when all I was doing was smoking then I either just sat around high or spent my dad thinking of how to steal money to buy weed, and thats not very memorable, while going to work getting paychecks, going to the grocery store playing some sports, or just chilling with a wider group of friends are all memorable activities. So, as long as weed is just even a large part of your life and not all of it, you really should be fine, my two cents nothing important haha

I believe completely that constant use of cannabis can (and does) have damaging effects on certain areas of the brain, this is especially true for people who start smoking cannabis during the years that their brain is developing. (from 12 - 21)

I'd say about 40% of the people I know who get high every day have a form of OCD, about 30% have really bad short term memory and even their long term memory takes a while to catch up...I won't even get started on the way cannabis effects your mentality or your psychological norm.

It irritates me that so many people don't see the bad side to cannabis..because there really is a bad side to it.
Just like any other substance we can consume, too much causes problems!

Moderation! Moderation! Moderation!

Well when you make it a situational thing yea to some degree, but I remember when I first started smoking, I remember all the silly shit that my friends and I did. Like once me and a coupla friends went up to this grave yard to smoke 2 Gotti's (blunts); and I was a Newbie @ smoking. So anyways by me going in on the 4 nick bags that we purchased I insisted on rollinItUp (haha Rollitup). Well never have rolled before, I was already high from the previous bowl pack, and i attempted to roll this fuckin blunt. Well It was dark okay....lol so I "PLACED" the cracked blunt on my lap, and "PLACED" the bag of shrubbery on a short tomb which is what i was going to use as my "table" for rolling this thing. Well after receiving and puffing my friends already rolled blunt I would say that I kind of forgot where I put this bag of Grass !! So we immediately did the typical ground search; only we were limited to the dismal supply of light produced by our cell phones. And this was back in fuckin 2003 when unless you were cakin rich your cell phone was this over sized long ass piece of shit and was not capable to produce the amount of lighting that we needed to find this lil ass NICKLE BAG which by the way was in a clear baggie. We searched in the vicinity of where we were all sitting for about a good 25 minutes no absolutely no success what so ever. I was basically crucified the whole night by my 3 friends. Long after that (year or two) I was with one of the same friends from that night in the graveyard (we were smoking again), and this bastard is going to tell me that he really did find the Baggie that night; and since I was a dumbass for dropping it in the grass that he and the other friends smoked it with out me that same night after I went home for the night!! Now tell me weed doesn't give the ultimate brain fart, and I'll tell them this story. LOL:mrgreen:

Well according to a theory I read about, the effect of cannabanoids is to disable the mental filters we normally need to achieve mental focus. See, normal people walking around are exposed to a tremendous amount of random thoughts and sensory data, (the bird flying overhead, the ants on the sidewalk, the breeze, the cars, memories of breakfast), and a zillion other things, all at once and coming in a continuous stream of thought and sensation. To be able to mentally focus, we have to be able to select a small portion of that data for analysis and memory-making. Getting high turns off part of that filter and causes our minds to be flooded with thoughts and sensations we would normally ignore. But this heightened cannabis-caused sensory awareness has a cost, and that cost is to our short term memory formation. AFAIK, no study has shown the degradation of short term memory caused by cannabis to be permanent or even lasting.

There you go smokers, we all need to get out our notepads and start writing down shit like old folks n shit. Its not even funny i do it quite often. But sometimes If it's important enough, i will just remember it anyway. I am especially good at remembering numbers n shit, Like phone numbers and license plate tags. Kinda comes in handy, so that is something i will miss once i'm a little ole lady still smoken on her dickhead bong. HAHA

I don't doubt this to be true but in some cases with different strains or some sativas one can have a pretty clear/focused high? or if that idea is wrong then I believe it has to do with personality as well and not just the weed - because I'm a pretty observant person and it crosses over into my smoking mentality also

personal exp.....everbody is different luv. i have been smoking on the reg since i was about 14 and im still sharp as a tac, i can remember the 1st phone number i ever had, recall nearly every night out ive ever been on....i have a very good memory is my point.
other heavy smokers i kno too, are very smart
but the other side of the coin i kno just as many people whom smoking weed has turned them into vegatables.

its all about the mind in question, is it weak or strong........jus food for thought.
