You know, with a very few exceptions, the responses in this thread are a real indication of what this community is all about. In spite of our political differences, we can put them aside, and help a fellow member when that help is asked for.

Just wanted to say thanks for that.

My friend came over last night for a visit. An hour and a half ... four beers. He's really sick. Red face, slurred speech. All puffy. He's sick.

Fuck!

Tell him to pick up a hobby. that wont let him drink excessively. even if you can drink while doing it at least he wont be drinking as much.

If your friend is drinking 20 beers a day, he is either drinking or drunk all the time he is awake.

Your friend has given up hope.

Unless he is independently wealthy, someone is enabling him.

And although they may mean well they are watching him gradually kill himself.

His ONLY chance is to stop drinking. The alcohol is just a sedative from the pain he feels.

A clear head might help him sort this out.

He very much needs to to explore what it is which is driving his self-destruction.
