The strainbank and "seed only"

Hmmm DNA testing still sounds a bit voodoo to me. I mean, who knows if they identify the whole thing or just a few markers. And then, has the original Sour Diesel been DNA tested? What do you compare it with if it hasn't? As long as there aren't any methods everybody agrees on i don't see what value that information would really have.

And then, as far as my experience goes, no strain is really uniform and you can never rely on a single plant. If you want the best plant of a strain you kinda have to be lucky or you will have to pheno hunt. And here we go again - if one pheno can be good and another can be not so good - how does that translate into this genetic fingerprint you want to compare it with in the first place? Do both phenos have the same fingerprint? I don't think so and i don't really think we know enough about the whole science to get really reliable info that would help you to find the right seeds. The info may be in there but wouldn't it be just confusing?
A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.....
