The sky is the limit?

So, I was thinking about upgrading to HLG 650R board light some day:

Because it's so powerful, the manufacturer recommends not hanging it any closer that 30 inches from the canopy. Add the thickness of the board and a couple inches of clearance for air circulation above the light, and we are talking 3 feet just for the light!

Now, 5 gallon fabric pots are about a foot tall.

So, even with a BIG 6.6 ft-tall tent, that leaves us with 2.6 feet of height for the plants themselves? That seems very short!
So, is there no point in getting this light unless you grow in at least a 8 ft-tall space, not a tent?

Thats gotta be the recommended hanging distance at 100% intensity. with the light dimmed a bit, you can most likely have it closer to the canopy. they want to manufacture one light and sell it to both commercial and residential customers, would be my guess. The GC ROI-E720 is also a really dope light. Ledgrowlightsdepot.com I’m sure you’ve heard of them and seen they’re review videos on YouTube.
