Amazing display of compression and rarefaction of matter due to sound wave propagation. Music indeed has a physical interaction with our bodies...
the Van De Graaff generator was perhaps superfluous.
But it looks cool...
It's not completely meaningless...It's all fairly meaningless, just inserting aesthetics into the sub-forum under the guise of science![]()
Yes it has an interaction with our body , the interaction plays a huge role in my selection of speaker systems for my sound systems .
Im not a big fan of subwoofers or the omnidirectional bass they create , it takes away from the music & leaves boom instead of pure bass .
The interaction between the sound source & my body is at its peak only thru using line array systems , big , bulky & mega expensive but the feeling from sitting in the sweet spot of a true full range line array is immersive .
Here's a book I read 20+ years ago that set my mind on the topic of unlocking the mathematical and geometric keys to music. I still have a hard copy with scribbling throughout![]()
I wouldn't say it is that deep as far as the science goes (especially compared to University texts), but it does cover a lot of the basics, and is still considered a fundamental work.

Cool! I just bought a used copy in very good condition off amazon for $4.

I'm going to read the entire thing while in the john. Thanks for the recommendation...
So is chaos.Music is our life!
Now that I'm thinking about it, I wonder what the difference is physically when your body is immersed in the sound waves speakers produce compared to a audiophile pair of headphones. IOW, with speakers sound pressure is vibrating throughout your entire body, while headphones are only a fraction of the waves but directly into the ear. They seem like such similar experiences when immersed in the music, but somewhat different from a physics pov. I don't know if that makes any sense, I'm pretty baked...
It makes perfect sense , i own some audiophile cans & can relate the differences , being in front of a properly set up line array is all immersive , the big differences between headphones & a line array is with the bass & mid bass as well as the seoeration of highs , mids & lows , with a line array the entire room is a sweet spot , i cant post pics anymore so i reactivated an old thread titled Whats your room like where it shows one of my line array systems & some of my gear , most of what makes line arrays so special is covered in that thread .
I dont know why it hasnt showed up in new posts , i posted in the old thread & it shoulda brought it back to life , i dont even know how to post links using this iphone i just bought , normally i post from computers & let my kids talk me into this tablet shit .Cool. Could you post the link to that thread, I couldn't find it...
