The positive, economic effect of lowering the minimum wage to $0

Don't know where you guys live but around here waiters/waitresses make big money, especially if it's a fine dining restaurant where a typical meal with a few drinks is $80 - 100 for two. My wife insists on tipping 20%.
That sounds about right, but not everyone tips at 20%. I would need to know the average tips per day in order to see if it comes towards a minimum wage.
Also not all businesses run off of receiving tips from customer/clients

Hey Sky.

Have you ever been in Kona? Thats like going to the big city for us, It's a lot warmer and dryer up there, kinda like a high desert. We go up there to go shopping one or two times a month.

Hows Bernie doing?
Stayed at the Royal Waikoloan just north of Kona-Kailua quite a few times. Have you been to the summit yet? If not, don't miss it. Rent a 4WD jeep in Kona or Hilo, hit Saddle Road about late afternoon, change at the visitor center into warm clothing and make sure to stay around a few hours after dark. You will see more stars and cosmic debris floating around than you can believe. It's mind boggling. We got taken in by one of the roaming astronomers, back to their computer rooms, the Keck, etc.

$400+ a night is definately more than minimum wage.

Taxation is legalized thievery as are any gov fees. Stay tuned, talk radio has brought to light that Obama and his cronies may be currently designing laws, mandates to get into your 401K savings. They'll steal everything they can get their hands on, distribute it to shitheads, and take the credit for being "compassionate". :spew:

We have to take this country back and get the liberal low lifes out of our pocketbooks and business records.

Speaking of records, how ironical that Hillary has been caught in a few lies about the ONE now TWO personal email accounts, the fact that she scrubbed thousands of emails erasing important data about Benghazi, the fact that she violated office protocol, the fact that she has a foundation with sponsors of questionable character and business dealing contributing huge sums of money to the Clinton foundation.

Then there's the social holier than thou bullshit spewing this crap about equal pay for women while she paid her own female staff 72 cents on the dollar compared to her male staff.

scum......

Ever checked out the hidden fees in your telecommunication bills? Look at your phone statements and question the junk fees. Call up your phone company and get the usual "we have to collect them as mandated by Congress". My old land line had 40% in junk fees, shit to buy little Maria a computer in south Texas. These thieves find ways to grab you by the balls and not let go. The only way out is to not report some of your income as a business man, find and use loopholes, etc.
thanks for the synopsis of today's rush limbaugh show, shit for brains.

yes and those table usually turn once a shift and you'll be lucky if you get a second in a 'fine dining' scenario.

you see @Uncle Ben, i've done it all..

let me ask you a question..back in the day when you were a kid picking cotton making .60/hour..would you have ever thought you'd have to pick cotton again..today..this very moment? and would you be willing to do it?

i'm doing what i did when i was an 18 year old kid just to keep my cell and lights..i made $90 for a weeks worth of work, my rent is still due from 5/1..in and out of my car, sweating in this 96 degree south fucking florida sweatbox..making certain there's no damage..packing so nothing falls over..let me tell you how fucking hard that is..in jersey we were paid by the piece per delivery..in florida it's per delivery no matter how many pieces.

i ran out of gas yesterday afternoon when i went to cash the check at my employers bank..wells fargo, they wanted $7.50 to cash my check..i needed to get gas..just wasn't gonna pay it; one block later..i went for my check at 1 and didn't get home until 5.

just maui - grand wailea next to the 4 seasons..love the coffee though and used to buy it organically from one of the farms.
Small world. We stayed at Wailea a few times, once for 12 days. We did a FABULOUS Chef's extravangaza at the Kea Lani resort - elegant setting/tables on the resort grounds by the pacific, syncopized serving, stuff like lobster marinated in butter over night by world class chef Ming Tsai, soups, Honolulu asian veggies from a Honolulu chef, desserts, interfacing personally with the chefs as they prepared each course, champagne, wines paired with each course, live band....6 hours of pure bliss. Opulent and decadent fer sure. Most fun was interacting with the other diners at your tables who knew the dishes and what to look for.

I like Kona coffee but I think it is over-rated compared to other origins. I'm a coffee roaster and just won't pay the price. Same with Jamaican blue which I find boring. Almost ordered this Maui the other day. You won't find this 2015 Hawaiian 100% Estate Maui; Yellow Cattura, cheaper than $9.25/lb. I will pay that for good green beans. http://www.burmancoffee.com/coffeelist/

Buy a West Bend Poppery off ebay and start roasting. Nothing more fun, and rich.

i just feel that a fed government is not needed, the state government should be the highest form and communities should come together and regulate themselves in accordance with their states laws. in that way people could better voice their opinions about policy and political parties wont grow to strong. and stop worrying about individual rights, and focus on Environmental Human and Animal rights; these are the fundamental rights that the fed government are violating on a daily basis ordered by corporate America. While the cause distrust among the common people so we wont come together and throw them out of our country. there isn't anything wrong with America there is something very wrong with the ones running America, and its time we stop playing their game.
like they do now? no one knows their neighbor..or wants to?

Too difficult to make one of your senseless posts without the racist, cry wolf drills? Do you really know how childish, bitter, and angry you come off?

White is beautiful, and quite frankly you're one ugly black hearted sonabitch in more ways than one. ;)

Branson? Think I'll go to Ferguson and ask the black community why all their "innocent" poor little victims have a criminal record. There's not one black person (s) the cops have killed recently (rightly or wrongly) that didn't have a criminal history. IOW, they deserved to die.

I say good bye to bad rubbish.

since you grow weed illegally in texas (or claim to), then that means you should be just fine with being summarily executed then, right?

or does your homicidal racist anger only apply to blacks?

No, I knew I would never have to pick cotton again and if I did it would be on MY farm. Speaking of that, I'm in my mid 60's and still doing manual labor. I just got through with 3 hours of back breaking work, had to stop because of this GD frickin' rain that Texas has "enjoyed" for the last 4 months, thanks to El Nino which is strengthening.

BTW, the .60/hr. was at a restaurant. I started making salads with the all black kitchen staff, then got "promoted" to bus boy. Loved the experience and the money. What was a bitch was a 10 hour day, split shift - lunch and dinner, 6 days a week. Lucky I only lived a few blocks away. Kids have it easy these days. They're spoiled rotten with this entitlement attitude that should be scorned. Pity party's over kids, get your smoke laden head to work.

Why? I don't know how old you are but if you don't have kids to support, are married and had two incomes, close to or in your 60's and don't have a million dollars in liquid or illiquid assets, something's wrong. I took a personal investment at our local college, one of those continuing ed courses back in the 70's. It was a wise choice. ;) Any body can have financial wealth in the land of opportunity. If you're like my sister though and rub two nickels together to watch them disappear, then you need to own it.

Can't be a time shortage thingie. You spend plenty of time on pot forums.

You are really dating yourself there Robby. Meathead, back when you were a child, 80 years ago, meant "dummy". Today, it means something completely different.

I have a business, two in fact. Both, the people who work at said business make between 3 to 8 times minimum wage. Both businesses are doing just fine.

I know several local small businesses that provide unique prepared foods, no more than 5 employees at each place. I've met most of the employees and the owners, all the employees make a living wage, closer to $20 an hour. These businesses are doing quite well.

Gilbert and Chandler, maybe it's Maricopa County, I'd have to double check, sets the minimum wage at $8.15. The local Dunkin Donuts by my house pays their employees a starting wage of $10.05.

You need to stop being angry at the world dude. Have some respect and compassion for people. Paying people $7 an hour is an insult and borderline slavery. Gas is $3 a gallon, and a typical lunch prepared at home costs about $4.00. 1/8th of your daily wage is gone because you had to drive to work and eat food.

Think man... just think.
Shit gas is like four a gallon here probably more downtown . Obama should made minimum wage 12.00 on a federal level. 10.10 isn't enough for any larger metro

Right on.

My son did that, and we are headed that way. We are going to make the loop from Kona across Saddle road over to Hilo and then hwy 19 up and around back to kona. My son did go up to the summit and we might as well. I did notice even from my house that the stars are brighter here and you see a lot more streaks from debris, than back in Oregon.

I picked up a 4x4 so we are good to go. I have to go four wheeling to get to some of my fishing holes.
