Well, going all the way back the the very start, our first vice president became our second president, and our second vice president became our third president. But I guess John Adams and Thomas Jefferson really aren't household names or anything, no real significance there. More recently, I would argue that both Truman and Johnson were extremely important vice presidents, especially considering that Johnson did more for civil rights than almost any other president since Lincoln.
