Idk. .5 umol/j higher should mean 17% more light i think. A math member could answer this better. ?...
All i know is i have lights that are 1.8 - 2.8 & see the difference all the way up (keeping spectrum differences in mind).
Are you asking if its worth the upgrade?
I have the Trinity which is probably pretty darn close in efficiency.

I know it’s worth the upgrade since I’m using qb96 en mass. But im a few months away from moving house and since Stephen has hinted at another light with higher umol within the next few months +. Is it worth the wait?

Maybe i am mistaken but i thought this is the 3.0 light?. I heard of A Rack light but wouldn't that be for veg or tier/rack growing?He had replied to a wise ass member here about a light coming out with a lower efficiency for the "Spectrum Snobs".

Real interested on if the Slate 2's can handle these 648's at max power.. Their site says Heatsink required at over 50watts. The rspecs don't need a heatsink until 60-70watts. But the 288 rspec's max out at ~160w each, with thermal paste and a 120mm fan on the slate 2's they run pretty cool at that wattage but these 648's with 5amps at 56v would push 280watts per board! I don't see a regular slate 2 able to handle that really even with the same thermal paste and fan.

I have been running mine at 100w and the heatsink feels slightly warm to the touch. I cranked it up to the 215 max of my driver for a minute or so and it was putting off a good amount of heat. Feel like anything over 140 would be pushing it.
If i can get the kids out of here today i will take some actual measurements.

I was told by HLG via email that all v1 and v2 boards should use a heatsink over 50w. Also the product page for v2 says 60w but the QB guide page says 50.

I assumed they were basically designed to be drop in replacements for previous generation QB 288s... same footprint etc. Basically running them softer at half wattage for better efficiency (like some people do with older v1 + v2 boards by doubling up on boards per driver, except they just doubled the diode count per board).

Damn, adding another 1/3rd to the board size and sink thing, spreading the diodes even more, splitting it in two, offering it on a sliding double rail would have been awesome then you'd have bigger boards ,customizable size with covering up to a 5x5 Leaving plenty of room for any supplementation you might want while allowing one to grow closer.
Kinda like my Proto. Covers a 5x5 at 620w NP.

Well the blue spectrum is much higher on these than the rspecs, so i'm thinking maybe they're 4k+red diode's instead of the 3500k+red that are on the rspecs

I am guessing they stuck with the same board size and heatsinks so their products are modular. Everyone would be calling them Apple if you had to completely upgrade every component each generation. You already have to potentially upgrade drivers to use the new boards, if they also needed new heatsinks adoption would be much slower. But your idea definitely sounds cool!
