Hi y'all...
I used to be a member of hempcultivation.com (back in '04) before they became GardensCure. What a great forum HC was--I sure do miss it. At the time, I was growing cannabis as a freshly minted high school grad in my parents' attic (with their consent).. My, how things have changed since then! Now the site belongs to some seed bank and has the flavor of a major advertising effort. For that reason, and more, I decided to explore other options. Rollitup came highly recommended.
More than GardensCure has changed, though. The majesty of life has also provided me with abundant change--some good, some not so good--but now I'm in a place to resume my favorite hobby of all-time: growing cannabis.
Hitting my financial rock-bottom after dropping out of graduate school was about the time I stopped growing. I moved out of state, took a crappy, corporate job with the intense fear of being drug tested, and stockpiled cash away--all while maintaining sobriety for a majority of 2011. Fed up with working for "the man," I took that money and started a business. Now that I'm working for myself, a lack of medicinal freedom and cash flow ceases to be a governing force in my life; I can now return to my roots of being a grower of fine cannabis for my own personal use and enrichment.
Some of my grows were thrown together, haphazardly. Others were in large, elaborate tents with 400W HPS'. For this grow, I am taking a middle-ground. Simplicity is key in life and I find this to be the right option for now. I've pulled my old cabinet out of storage and decided to put her back into use. A 34"H x 24"W x 16"D, that has provided me with many hours of enjoyment and many ounces of good cannabis will be used in this grow. Although I no longer have access to dispensary clones, I do have a handful of seeds from various sources that I'll be using. My suspicion is that they are indica-dominant and of a purple variety, but time will tell.
On to the less-than-nostalgic stuff:
In my 2 square-foot garden, I'll be running a 150w HPS set up cool-tube via Lasko Pivoting Task Fan and DIY scrubber. I've planted 8 seeds in Supersoil (No FoxFarms up here) and currently have them under a CFL. I'll likely be implementing LST as I don't know the sex of my soon-to-be sprouts, and don't want to overcomplicate my grow with a separate mother box/clone room just yet. I have a feeling this will come.
I've included a picture of the cabinet so you can see what we'll be working with. Subject to change, but not by much...
