Funny, because the fact that it's sold separately saves me money, since it's a generic fert sold by hundreds of ag companies.calcium nitrate is sold separately because that's how you make more money from people that don't understand chemistry. it also contains urea which is a cheap form of nitrogen. and if you are growing "organically" then you will not use synthetic fertilizer or else it wont be "organic".
Ammonium nitrate is a commonly used source of nitrogen but it interferes with calcium uptake and causes calcium deficiency disorders in plants. The solution is to apply calcium nitrate instead to any crop that has a tendency to develop calcium deficiency disorders.
