"SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Mormon church is ramping up its opposition to a medical marijuana proposal in Utah even as leaders insist they would support patients using the cannabis under stricter controls.

Jack Gerard, a leader in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, said on Aug. 23, 2018 that the faith supports tightly controlled use of the drug, but is “deeply concerned” that a plan set for the November 2018 ballot doesn’t have enough oversight.

He was joined by a number of state heavy-hitters, such as the president of the Utah Jazz, and a handful of patients who support medical cannabis but are turning against the ballot initiative in favor of the church-backed coalition.

Medical-marijuana advocates took the issue to the voters after years of frustration at the state Legislature and easily cleared a high bar to make the November ballot."

As is usual, organised religion wants what it has always wanted since the conception was created. Absolute control over every aspect of everyone's lives irrespective of what that aspect is, whether it is narcotics, alcohol, food, dress and even coffee.

And that sort of control freakery is what has helped create the situation where Utah has a terrible record in regard to prescription drug addiction and overdoses

i love it how they dont use first names, lol i told them i was under the impression they are a cult haha, we all shared an awkward laugh
1. They are a cult; my father, grandparents, etc. were all raised in it, as well as some very dear friends. It doesn’t mean they aren’t a cult just because good people are members.

2. Refer to them as Elder Dingbat, Elder Dingaling, and Elder Dong Dong, stuff like that, if you want a really awkward laugh.
a) Take one fishing and roll joints and bring beers sometime, see how it goes.

3. Ain’t whistlin’ in the dark, I was raised in a place where there are more Mormons per capita than SLC.

Those fucking mormons came to my door when I lived on a farm in IA, I had my .44 mag in my hand when opened the door, they left. Bastards don't mind there own business then I'll make sure they stay far away. Had some boys show up at the door just recently and I told them to go back and ask their elders why they think it was there god damn business to support anti gay laws in Cali with millions of dollars... they left too.

Tax these criminals and we'd see a lot less of them.

Good ole Boise...
Boise is where all the liberals and lesbian real estate agents (seriously, it’s a thing, not judging) are, try Rexburg, dude.

Boise is aight, still too damn conservative for me.
Tax them like they tax any other club
Hear hear! Exactly. We should tax the extremely rich and the mega corporations in some meaningfully enforced way, while we are at it.

No western religious person could question ones use of marijuana after whats in the bible. The Mormons are especially dangerous as they are a make believe religion for the sake of profit (dont pay tax).

Yea I live one valley from where the dude who started them lived. Guess what I found some plates where god told me to do some bong hits....
