The Main-Lining Thread

It sounds like you have the space too. But also. I find that the short j keep the stems. Or the closer the colas stay to the Main stem. The thicker they grow and stronger they are. Where as if I top way out further. They stay a bit skinnier and can be flimsy. Which is why most tie them up. But I like to get the stems as thick and strong as I can.

Thanks for the advice @Skillzd, I'll refer back to your suggestion in a few weeks. I'll probably do my first top this weekend as she is just now starting on her 5th node.

Also, I'm growing under a 315w cmh and so far the node spacing has been real tight.

Yep. No problem. Each grower puts is own twist on things usually cus to each grower has different needs and preferences. Like someone may have a small square grow room so they train it or manifold it slightly different then someone who has plenty of room and can get a nice big Circle of Colas. That one k have pictured above that's ready for flower in two weeks. It's more of an Oblong shape but I did that because I have a oblong shaped Pot that I can use to train them easier.

Are you going to take clones btw? if you take the Top properly you could root it and have a second one to grow right behind yours now. It will be about 2-3 weeks behind depending on how fast it roots and recovers growth.

I usually take clones just to see how easy each strain is to clone. I only run one light so I'm not really in the cloning business.

Naw I just meant for personal. I was just wondering if you did. I have another thread about cloning the smallest little cuts. And then one for Bonsai style and just any unique and fun growing styles. It's always kool to see what others are doing and playing with

Week 3 from seed. One is already a 21 header :weed: the rest 4-8.
The strain is a White Lemon that's growing ferociously.
It's already showing sex too, female!
Anyone else experience anything like this? I'm page 15x in to this thread now

For expedited growth can't I just top at 6th node, cut all growth nodes off except for 3rd set and leave all fan leaves? Only place left to grow is 3rd growth node up and there's still lots of fan leaves to keep the growing going until the plants bigger. Isn't this more logical?

The node spacing with this CMH lamp is making it difficult to train.

Also, after I topped it I had branches growing underneath the cotyledons, first time I've seen that.

ive found with mine that keeping the fans on help a lot. I stripped off a few to make certain plants "look pretty" (no fans except your mains) as per nugs instructions, but they were slow to bounce back. The ones with the fans left are much faster.

Looks like one or two of mine!
just keep topping! You can spread your manifold at any stage. Things will start growing out soon enough.
I topped each new node after my initial first cut.

If you want a little more stretch you can take your light cycle down by an hour for a week at the most. Things will stretch after the first extra initial hour of darkness. (In my experience )

Example of some of my late spreading, that's at 27 heads , believe it or not!

doesnt look like a whole lotta room in there with 20 plants in 7 gal. if you are growing reg seeds, 8 tops. feminized 4 tops.

Yeah it's tight. I know 10 are fem out of the 26 total. You don't see the ones in 1 gallons. They'll be transplanted once males show. I have some clones too

personally i would go with 4 tops each then, quicker flip. to 12/12.
Hmm. Ok but I have an easy 5' of grow height and no rush. Once I weed out males I'm guessing it'll be 3 across which is 4.5' across. Still think 8? I want them to grow tall....taller the more I'll yield to some degree

@BM9AGS if you go 8 tops and tall I would put them in tomato cages to keep them from spreading out. I've had to run string around mine to keep them more narrow, but string is a hassle.
